Behind the scenes at Roskilde Festival

All year around, a number of staff members toil to bring the next festival to life. During the festival itself, 25,000 volunteers help things come smoothly together. Their tasks are numerous and differ in character but there is one important commonality – their love for the festival and their high spirits.

Read about the many volunteers, who made sure that Roskilde Festival was the best outdoor party of the year.

Anniversary of the wristband
Did you happen to know that you are wearing a unique aluminium gadget around your wrist? The clip which keeps your festival wristband together, celebrates its 25 th. anniversary this year.
Drink up and support Congo
If you give your deposit bottles and cups to the guys in the turquoise vests you support the clearing of mines in Congo. Folkekirkens Nødhjælp (DanChurchAid) is behind the initiative which is supported by Roskilde Festival.
Roskilde Festival with sunstroke and blisters
Did Roskilde Festival give you anything else than great experiences? Like a sun burnt nose or a blister in your rubber boots? In that case you are not the only one. But you can get relief with the medics at the First Aid stations and at the chemist’s.
Bottle refund and cross-border behaviour
The bottle refund stall at Service Centre East is controlled by the Cross-border Association (Grænseforeningen), which works for an open-minded Danishness and the conditions of the Danish minority in South Slesvig (Sydslesvig). In the stall everybody is bilingual or multi-lingual. An 18-year-old is at the head of it all.
A golden anniversary
25 years ago a group of commune members opened a food stall called Den Gyldne Bønne (The Golden Bean). Today the next generation has taken over, but the hippie spirit and cosy atmosphere remain.
Visiting the sound tower at Orange Stage
Did you know that Roskilde Festival holds one of the largest stereos in the world, and that each of the great speaker pillars, which are standing on each side of the stage, are loaded with 100.000 watt? Follow the festival reporters as we go backstage on Orange Stage.
Roskilde – The Experience
Four years ago, a Norwegian guy decided, for the first time, to document Roskilde Festival with his video camera – and his ambitions grow year after year.
Lost and Found
Each day, the offices for lost property at Roskilde Festival have several visitors who both hand in and look for forgotten things.
”It is a beer festival!”
There is beer here, there and everywhere at Roskilde Festival
Roskilde Cup 08 – soccer tournament for workers
The annual soccer tournament for workers is over. The tournament is a tradition – even though it has to be stated that last year, the event had to move indoor because of the rain – and the trophy was given to the winner of table soccer.
