A different kind of volunteers
Corporate volunteering at Roskilde Festival
For several years Roskilde Festival has worked together with local and national corporations through corporate volunteering. The corporations lend their expertise to Roskilde Festival offering our audience and our volunteers a better experience.
Corporate volunteering can be defined as the staff’s voluntary involvement in charitable activities in society, supported, coordinated and financed by the corporation. When the corporation itself supports the project it makes it possible for Roskilde Festival to lower expenses and in this way enables the festival to donate money to charity.
The corporations take on a task which they are responsible for and solve together with their staff and are in this sense supporting our cause and the fundraising for charity. We have previously worked together with Bankernes EDB Central (The banks’ data base) who ran our internetcafées and Danske Bank who were in charge of the handling of cash.
In 2012 Roskilde Festival wants through collaborations strengthen social corporations that work with employees with special resources.
Previous projects have had a focus on homeless people. A group of homeless people stayed on the festival area and were payed to clean up the site. At Roskilde Festival 2012 we are working together with three social corporations. Allehånde is a catering company that employs deaf chefs, Junk Food produces and caters food for drug addicts and Center for Socialøkonomi (The Danish Center for Social Economy) provides support and gathers know-how in connection to our collaborations in this area.
