Garbage initiatives 2013
Roskilde Festival is constantly working to improve the waste handling, improve the use of resources and make the festival greener. In this instance, you and the other festivalgoers are the most important people. This year you can camp in even more green camping grounds, you can sort your waste in the Sustainable Zone by Odeon, you can participate in workshops and trash parades, leave your waste at our new Trashpoints, donate your canned food and much more…
Green camps at the camping grounds
This year Roskilde Festival improves the waste disposal effort in various ways at the camping grounds. Areas B, E, K, J og M will this year be Clean Areas where it will be easy and swift to dispose of your waste.
Keep an eye out for the new Trashpoints at the Clean Areas. Here you can leave your trash for collection.
It is also at the Clean Areas where you can meet the festival’s official Green Camps who put focus on waste collection and recycling through fun and involving events.
If you drop by area P you can also have a dance with Clean Out Loud’s trash parade where partying and waste collection is united in a colourful spectacle.
Your Clean Camping
From dawn till dusk you will once again see the festival’s rolling trash cans on the camping grounds. Together with the happy volunteers they will keep the festival clean and make sure that it is easy for the guests to get rid of their trash.
The trucks are equipped with orange banners and orange lights that make them easy to recognise. They will be driving around on the camping grounds in all daylight hours.
You can always ask the volunteers for help if you need information or bags for waste collection in your camp.
Your waste becomes energy in Roskilde
93 per cent of all waste collected at the festival is incinerated to make heating and energy for Roskilde. So please use the nearest trash can when you need to dispose of your trash.
Roskilde Festival is Denmark’s leading festival when it comes to waste collection and with the new strategy we expect the guests to once again help making Roskilde Festival Denmark’s cleanest festival.
