In 1994, a deposit system on beer and soft drink cups, beer cans, non-refundable bottles and broken glass was introduced. Since then the deposit system has been extended to include all plastic cups and bottles sold from the beverage stalls.

The system is so efficient that up to 97% of the plastic cups handed out from the beverage stalls are returned to the deposit points.

Beverages in plastic mugs – a cleaner Festival Site

The Festival site is almost free of glass bottles, plastic and cans. At all beverage stalls, drinks are served in plastic mugs or cartons, and at all entrances service guards will check for glass and plastic bottles as well as cans.
