BELLOWHEAD (UK)Saturday 07.07.12 - 19:00 - Odeon Neither Portishead nor Radiohead can make the Brits dance like the sound of Bellowhead. The quintessentially English 11-man band has taken the traditional folk music of their motherland and applied a massive touch, which has resulted in Bellowhead being awarded best live band as many as five times at the BBC Folk Awards. With brass, fiddle, accordion and lute, the atmosphere of old pipe-smoking England is spread instantly. However, the anarchistic virtuoso musicians readily draw on jazz, funk, and marching bands as well. Bellowhead has played during the intro on The Simpsons, developed their own type of ale and visited Roskilde Festival back in 2006. Now it’s again time to dust off the tweed jacket and shine the dancing shoes.
