HOBA HOBA SPIRIT (MA)

Saturday 06.07.13 - 13:00 - Odeon

Marock’n’roll. That's the title of their collection of greatest hits. And it sums up Hoba Hoba Spirit quite well. With journalist and social critic Reda Allali in front, the band has been part of a minor Moroccan music revolution.

Since the band switched on the amplifiers in the late 90s, they have combined rock and the tones of ancient Morocco in a way that has practic allyturned them into a national treasure.

The fearless music collective combine traces of The Clash, Bob Marley and North African gnawa rhythms in their own melodic and accessible music. With its criticism of modern society, Hoba Hoba Spirit could serve as the perfect soundtrack to the Arab Spring.

Label: Hot Lunch / Import
