KING AYISOBA & BAND (GH)
One of Ghana’s strongest music profiles right now is called King Ayisoba. He’s currently on tour in the West with a full band of singers, musicians and dancers from his home country.
Their traditional music is based on a two-stringed lute known as the kologo. In the company of his brother – who masters a distinct North Ghanesian hunting horn – King Ayisoba has developed his own bony blues full of enchanting rhythms, call-and-response vocals and hoarse beauty.
At the same time King Ayisoba is also a modern artist aiming beyond the African horizon. The Ghanaian has performed with members of The Ex, Danish dancehall icon Pharfar and at the recently much talked-about Copenhagen venue Mayhem.
Band schedule is ready in May
Roskilde Festival releases the time schedule in May, if everything works out at least somewhat according to plan.
We don’t do it until then to make the best schedule possible for our audience. When we, for various reasons, are forced to make changes late in the process, we have a better chance at putting together a programme that considers both the spreading of genres, the performer's touring plans and safety at the festival.
