THE ALAEV FAMILY (IL/TJ)
Thursday 05.07.12 - 21:30 - Gloria
With foothold in the percussive traditions of Central Asia, several generations of The Alaev Family perform together. The age span is, according to themselves, 15 to 79.
In 1991 the entire Alaev family immigrated from Tajikistan to Israel. You will notice this in the multi-ethnical music, which employs accordions, angry violins and Turkish-sounding scales on the clarinet. The music grooves with more exhilaration than a wedding where half of Tel Aviv is invited.
With The Alaev Family you will get a cheerful demonstration of how ancient family traditions can withstand the tooth of time and be carried forward proudly by younger generations. This is further evidence to the fact that Israel has become the centre of several exciting genre clashes.

Band schedule is ready in May
Roskilde Festival releases the time schedule in May, if everything works out at least somewhat according to plan.
We don’t do it until then to make the best schedule possible for our audience. When we, for various reasons, are forced to make changes late in the process, we have a better chance at putting together a programme that considers both the spreading of genres, the performer's touring plans and safety at the festival.
