THE LOW ANTHEM (US)Saturday 07.07.12 - 17:30 - Pavilion Old US flags wave over The Low Anthem’s rustic songs. The band had a minor breakthrough with Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, which made a larger audience discover the Providence band’s richly orchestrated blend of rhythm and blues, country, blues rock and pastoral folk. On 2011's Smart Flesh the band sounds more subdued than before. This rule has exceptions, however, for instance with the 9-11 rock hymn "Boeing 737". The Low Anthem place themselves confidently on the mountain peaks of the American rock tradition. Their songs are full of lofty solitude, campfires and fresh mountain air.
