THE SHINS (US)Thursday 05.07.12 - 18:00 - Arena It's been five years since The Shins last played at Roskilde Festival. In 2012, James Mercer's band rises again with new band members – and probably with a few tricks from Broken Bells, Mercer's collaboration with Danger Mouse. The Shins play sunshine-filled guitar pop with gilt-edged tunes, a little eccentricity and self-destructive attitude. At the same time, the band's new incarnation seems more comfortable in the stadium spotlight than before. The Shins are not just an underground band that has overtaken many mainstream bands. The American band is also an educational acquaintance for older festival-goers who think that no one writes songs like Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson nowadays.
