The poppy acid rock songs of Ruban Nielson made the world want a piece of him, before his trippy sugar cubes were even ready for consumption.

This year’s follow-up album, II, has just arrived. It carries on with flickering sunshine, laid-back nonchalance and heartwarming melodies.  

Unknown Mortal Orchestra gazes reverently at late The Beatles and early Pink Floyd, and the acid trip also has a slack, home-made vibe reminiscent of a young Beck.
