Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

So what do YOU think? Will they sell enough tickets to be able to open P this year?
I reckon that they`ll sell around 60 000 tickets, and that P will indeed be opened... I will be very dissapointed if it isnt...

What was that particular lady's position at the festival? Management?

The friends have volunteered to be guards, the ones in the orange wests, and yesterday they had that necessary meeting about safety and such. 2 women were in charge of that - thats all I know. But they're probably the same ones doing it everywere, it would seem like they knew what they were talking about... icon_confused.gif

Surely the festival cannot predict exactly how fast the other camping areas will fill up? I don't think you can say X amount of people camped in P last year, and that same amount of people aren't coming this year and conclude from this that P isn't required this year. It doesn't work like that. And if the festival are pretty sure they're not going to open it at this point, surely they're not going to mark out the camping areas, build an agora and have shops etc just incase it's needed. What will the festival do if they simply run out of space?

There's going to be 14 of us, and we don't arrive till around lunchtime Sunday. Will we definitely be able to build a camp all together and have a pavillion? That's kinda what I demand from the festival to be honest. I'm not paying this much money to all be camping in different areas and have no private place for us all to sit, that'd almost ruin the experience.

People says that P was only half filled last year, and that F and D was shut down entirely. If they suspect they'll sell less tickets this year, there is some sense to it...

Wasn't that exactly what they did last year with the agora (don't remember the letter) that was a part of the waiting area by the west entrance. There was built a tower and everything. That area was going to be used as a camp for the late arrivers if it was needed. Don't remember if they ever used it, though.

Hey...

The way it looks right now, we are not going to run out of space.

But we will constantly look on the amount of tickets that are sold. But the statistic shows that there are only 1 1/2 person in every tent, so maybe we can have more people in every tent? Just saying it...
I have also been camping at Roskilde Festival, and know how it is to make a camp. And that will still be possible at Roskilde ´09, I will do what I can to make it a good Festival for every guest.

we know you are not trying to mess up the camp for us icon_smile.gif
I'm sure we'll all make the best of it and have a good experience no matter what.
But I'm sure you can understand our worries, aswell as we try to understand the decitions you make on behalf of us icon_smile.gif

@jesper: Thanks, but I'm worried about the situation. It's my 11th festival, and every year more and more people arrive at saturday/sunday. An maybe when we come at sunday it's difficult to find enough space at the south (we don't want to go to the westside because we're at the south since ever)because we need space for 17 peoples but they all will be arrive between sunday and wednesday. It will be very bad when we have no chance to reserve space for all our friends. And that's it was make the Roskilde Spirit: Camping and making party together for one week with all friends together. So I hope that sunday afternoon "P" is open, because all the last years it was the best place to be and there're enough space to find a big camp for all together. You wrote that 1 1/2 person being in a tent but don't forget the space for the pavilions icon_smile.gif)

So if I bang a midget in my tent, that would actually be as normal as can be icon_biggrin.gif

In the ticket sales numbers that have been discussed, are volunteers included in those or is it only "real" tickets? (meaning can we add XX.XXX visitors to the numbers?)

It's my opinion that volunteers is NOT icluded in the mentioned number of 40000..so at least 20000 more will attend.

As far as I know they're not included. Not sure though.

In some of the material we have received from the festival they write:

The Festival invites 75.000 paying guests which gives you a large responsibility. There are more than 25.000 employees helping to make it all ..

That's 100.000+ people if all tickets sell.

Some people here speaks like if its a human right to set up huge camps with big gazebos and reserve space for people who arrives five days later, well it isnt!
There is no need to live in huge camps. Less prep, moore festival!

@trumpeter: no one here told that it's a human right to build big camps. But for the feeling - and I think it's not only my opinion - is really better, when friends can stay together. I don't mean tent to tent, but I don't want to drive to this not really cheap experience with a lot of friends which all are working hard the hole year, to make one week party, laughing, singing together, and we live somewhere between 100 meters or more ! But maybe all will be good. When it's real, that only 40.000 tickets are sold, I'm very sad, because RF lives from the graeat and big audience ! I hope, no, I THINK, that we're all will have a good time again, but, OK, I'm a litlle bit worried about the space situation....
