Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Hey guys! As this will be my first Roskilde Experience, I have some questions to you veterans!
First of all, and most important: Is it possible to get any sleep? I've been to other, smaller festivals and I haven't slept that much but three days without a good night's sleep isn't that terrible. I imagine a whole week must be, though! So people, do you have any tips? Where to camp, and so on.
This does of course not mean that I don't wanna party, just not "til' the break of dawn" icon_razz.gif

Well this was the only question I could come up with at this time, but I'll be back!

Sleep is overrated, but a good set of earplugs helps if you happen to camp in the same time zone as Van Damme Camp. icon_smile.gif

Don't camp near Bob The Builder Camp if you are planning on getting any sleep. We play laud music 24 hours a day icon_smile.gif

But when you get drunk enough you pass out, and there's you sleep icon_smile.gif

Deleted user Generally the further south you go, the more sleep you'll be able to get. There's also silent camp in J to consider, where they actually have rules.

usually, once you get into your sleeping bag and your head hits the ground/pillow you fall asleep almost instantly.

My best bet is earplugs and lot's of alcohol.
After a while you fall asleep out of pure exhaustion.

Thanks guys, your answers comfort me. As long as noone pisses on my tent or burn it, I should be able to lay my head down and "enter dreamland"...people don't piss on or burn tents that much by the way, do they? icon_eek.gif

I'm a fan of sleeping myself, So i would recomend E on west. There is plenty of party there, but there's not really any problem getting some sleep there as well (at least it has never been any problem for me), and you get earplugs when you exchange your ticket for bracelet as well, and those earplugs will become your best friend. Another thing i would recomend, is that you dont place your tent next to the "roads" where alot of people walk, its better to place your tent in between the oher tents. It minimizes the chance of getting your tent pee'd on, and you dont get the traffic next to your head.

I think E is reserved for Green Footsteps so that might not be an option though.

Isn't it just a question of getting enough to drink? Normally I go out as a light when I go to bed at Roskilde. Then again, I rarely get more than 4 hours of sleep a day.

Earplugs are nice, but useing them when trying to sleep, will amplify the inavoideble whisling/ringeing sound in your ears after a party hard day. After 11 years at roskilde, i´ve grown acustom to the "mellow" sweet sounds of the campinggrounds! BUT if you lie close to the heavy duty camps, it might be a good idea!

Yeah, me too, I'm getting so old that if I sleep more than 5-6 hours in a row, it's a luxury but I usually need a midday 45 minute-1hour nap as well.

I too am so Roskilde accustomed that I can sleep almost anywhere regardless of the surroundings and noise level at Roskilde. I don't even need a sleeping bag or even matress anymore, I'm fine with sleeping on the ground, as long as I have a blanket to shield me from the cold of the ground.

I was going to see a 02.45 concert last year and was so exhausted so I laid on the ground to wait for it. People felt so sorry for me that I got a hug, a sip of wine and half a glass of beer within 5 minutes. icon_smile.gif
They thought I was half passed out from alcohol though..nice to give me more then. icon_smile.gif

Did it all week last year, where I didn't have a tent, or matress. Only a sleeping bag, and a blanket. It was fine, although I probably would have preferred at least one or two nights with a more comfortable sleeping arrangement.

hehehe

It wasn't until roskilde '01 until I felt I had gone too old I actually got my first matress and sleeping bag, before that I just had a blanket. So I'm pretty hardcore in that respect. icon_biggrin.gif
