  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Since the gates this year are opening at 6pm on saturday instead of 8am on sunday I was wondering when people are thinking about arriving to the waiting area? My friends and I are driving from Norway so we need a parking spot at West and do not want arrive later than when the fence falls (seeing that this not allways happens on the time it is supposed to).

When do you guys think its a safe estimation to arrive to get a decent parking spot and to get the wristband before the fence falls?

I have a feeling people will show up much earlier this year because its more convinient when the opening is in the late afternoon/early evening and you can just chill on the grass and drink beer while waiting for the fence to fall. Something which wasent always that pleasent or convinient before because it was harder to get to the enterance (w/out a car) at the night time and not everyone wanted to sit in the pitch dark and cold waiting for the gates to open.

well me and my crew are traveling by plane, which lands arround 9am on saturday. then we're gonna head in to copenhagen city to get some practical supplies, be fore we head for the festival. So I'm guessing we're there arround 12. I hope the fact that the fence are planned to open earlier this year will make people more patient and not tare the fence down too early.

Yeah I agree. It seems like we will be there around 12 too. We'll just buy some food and beer and chill out in the parkings pace and maybe get some sleep after getting the wristbands and driving all night. Then we are ready to party all night long when the camping opens =D

Is it right that the service centers opens first on sunday?

Any idea when the parking spaces officially open?
We've decided to arrive a day early this year, after the fiasco that was last year and because of the new opening time.
We'll probably arrive at the parking / waiting area around 14:00 on Saturday. I really hope that's early enough.

I wonder what will happen with the reservation system if the gates get crashed early again this year?

I will be there before 2pm all because I have to fly into Copenhagen from Florida. Once in CPH, I will need to collect my bags then head down to a friends place by metro, dump my stuff off, quickly repack for Roskilde and then head to the actual Roskilde campsite(s). It will be another stressful journey, but I will soon be drinking among friends and the pass out in a state of drunken bliss! Let's just hope that they do not knock down the fence early than that!

I'm flying over with my group on the Friday morning. Then dependant on the weather forecast we'll either go straight to the waiting area (if it's nice) or get a hostel in Copenhagen if it's rainy.

So potentially we'll be there from midday on the Friday.... icon_eek.gif

Of course, all flying these days are at the whim of a certain Icelandic volcano icon_biggrin.gif

I'm planning to arrive Saturday afternoon by car.

Even if the fences go down early it may not be a bad thing because I don't like waiting in line and hopefully with the new reservation system I'll still be able to find a nice camping spot without too much stress.

Last year I arrived Sunday early morning, and felt I was one day late to the party.

there was no line last year either. just happy people in the waiting area icon_smile.gif tok us about 5 minutes from when we arived vlast year till we were in the area with bracelets. and suddenly when the fence came down everyone just got up and ran for their wanted spot. no line there either. pretty nice. but the entire campingarea was overly populited 30 minutes later, which is why it would kinda suck to arrive after the fence has come down.

Okay, Roskilde-virgin talking: I really don't get, how the queue system and the waiting area work? What if my camp mates and I, go to Tivoli and get our bracelets (if they will do as last year), where do we then go when we arrive on Saturday? .. So confused icon_lol.gif

still the waitingarea to wait for when they open the campsite. the waitingarea is for everyone who have bracelets, nomatter of you get them at tivoli or at the festivalarea. you just have different "qeues". as in the ones who allready have bracelets go straight in to the waitingarea, and those who dont have to get in line to get the bracelett first before getting acces to the waitingarea.

OK that's not so bad then. I don't mind waiting a bit if it is in a happy environment with fun people, and it is kind of exciting to not miss a second of the festival.

Ye little booze-boutique at Kastrup where we stock up for the first days opens on saturday at 9am.
So I guess we will be parked and ready before 11am.

And regarding queues/waiting areas, there will actually be 3 this year.
1 on west as past years, Gate 25, but this year there will be two areas on east.
1 for those who run for a spot at the "regular" waiting area closest to Arena/Green stage. Gate 35
1 for those heading for Area P and J with booked camping tickets. Gate 32

Might take a load off the crowds.
Just hope that it's all clear when people arrive where to go. Searching for information beforehand is not always everyones favourite sport.

We will start our trip from Hamburg, Germany about 1am, so we will be in Roskilde on Saturdaymorning with sunrise.

Hopefully the fence is still intact at this time icon_wink.gif

If you wanna get a spot in H or G, which entrance do you guys reckon would be the best to go by?

Seems to be shorter from west, but won't the bridge be mega-crowded?

In my experience, the fence always falls first in east. (in west we chill and enjoy the que)
So just there, east will have atleast a 4-5 minute head start.
And then it's the bridge.
If you're early in line, you might get to it first, if not, there is a few minutes extra.
If I was going to G or H, I would head for the east entrance icon_smile.gif

I'm arriving in Copenhagen Friday morning. Not quite sure if I'll be going to the waiting area the same day or stay with some friends in Copenhagen overnight and go there Saturday morning.

I'm doing the same - my decision will probably be made up depending on the weather. If it's nice like last year i'll head straight to Roskilde.

We've camped in the farther parts of G (by the way, does anyone know why there's no section below G this year - that's where H usually is. I get it that a lot of the lower parts of the former gravel pit will be able for camp, hence section H has moved to there, but why not utilize the part south of G for something?) the last three years, and have always entered through entrance West, and got a spot quite comfortably. These dynamics may change however, as it seems the gravel pit has shrunk, and thus there won't be as much of a detour in going from entrance East to G.

This year, we'll probably arrive either late friday night, or (most likely) around 11 am saturday. We'll probably go through West, and make a scramble for G (I wouldn't like camping in H, being as it's probably gonna be a hell of a mess if we get any rain this year), or alternatively, if there's a bit of a crowd at entrance West, we might have to settle for the lower parts of C.

Re the discussions on whether or not the change of opening time from Sunday morning to Saturday evening will make people come even earlier, I have mixed feelings on that. It sure seems people are coming in throughout Saturday in droves this year, but other than that I don't think there'll be a problem. A lot of people have arrived Saturday in recent years anyway, being as few people are able to or want to arrive in the middle of the night/early Sunday morning. The biggest fear seems to be, that it will be increasingly necessary to arrive Friday night, in order to get a good spot, but I don't think it'll be that bad. Don't forget a lot of people are still working friday, thus a lot of people simply won't be able to get there before early Saturday.

Our plan is to arrive at 6pm friday, and camp in L. Is that too soon or what? I wouldn't mind NOT sleeping in the waiting area. Sounds like everyone will wait till saturdayicon_biggrin.gif
