  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Will there be enough space? How many tickets sold?

I know this is the 100th topic regarding the amount of space there'll be, but I've been comparing this year's map to last year's and the space that has been lost this year is unbelievable.

2008 - 667 Camping Squares

2009 - 445 Camping Squares

(My count may be a couple out, but it's pretty spot-on).

Sorry to keep going on about this, but just how quiet do the festival management expect this year to be? That's a crazy amount of camping space to lose, and it didn't even sell out last year.

Please can someone from upper management just confirm that there'll definitely be plenty of space for everyone based on the ticket sales? Bearing in mind that many of us camp in large camps. I know I'm not the only one concerned.

Of course I know that people have to camp, and that you've probably got some plan in place, but I think we all just really want to know what this is. What will put me off coming to the festival in future years is if we arrive before lunchtime on Sunday and festival volounteers are already telling us we have to squeeze in small gaps, because that's not acceptable. A huge part of the festival atmosphere for most people is to all camp together and have somewhere to sit.

Thanks.

yeah... some round figures makes that about 70 more people per square of camping ground then last year.

(quick figrues being 100 000 pl, devided by the number of squares.)

thats a lot of people per square! 225 in 2009 vs. 150 in 2008.
2 x 2 meters per camper... that doesn't leave much place to put up a pavillion and to sit and lounge...

count me as one of the concerned ones!

Agree... The festival would be kind of ruined if you no longer can sit under a pavillion with all your friends all in one place chilling out... It would suck if we all ended up being spread all over the place because we arrived a few hours after the opening...

And by the way, if you really counted every single square on those maps, you must have too much time on your hands icon_biggrin.gif

I completely agree - that's our situation.

And yes I did count all the squares. I printed both maps out and checked off each square as I counted. icon_biggrin.gif

our tent is 6 x 3 meters, and we're four people sleeping in it. (regular "tunnel tent" with two seperate rooms)
that means we have already taken up two square meters more than our quota!

I'm a C-camper, not a P-camper. but hope they open P, just to releave of the preassure all the other camps will experience!

P to the people!

There's going to be 11 of us. Fair enough, some are sharing, but not everyone is. Some people just don't feel comfortable sharing, it wouldn't be fair to make them.

Completely agree, and it's not like they even have to open all of P if they don't feel the need, it is possible to put fences up and just use half! If you're going to stop using an area due to poor ticket sales, why choose that anyway? It's huge and quite close to the festival site!

don't they usually have some "back-up space" reserved, or is my memory mistaken?
anyway,.. unless the last tickets are going fast we'll propably have plenty of space

some official RF person did say in a previous post, that P would be kept as a back up area. That is to say they would open up P if the rest of the camping area is filled up...

I hate people who bump. However...

BUMP

Once I've had the official answer I'm seeking, I'll stop. I know officials have responded before, but you haven't really answered anything.

I was at the Coachella Festival in California in 2007, and on the camp site they had a 2m² square drawn out for each camper. There were five of us, so we got five adjacent squares. In this 5x2m² area we pitched two tents, and there was no way in hell we could fit anything else in there.

So with The Coffin Camp's/LiamC's numbers in mind, I'm really concerned. We will be arriving at the festival early sunday morning, and there's about 15 of us in our camp (not all of them arriving on sunday though). We've camped on what's last known as P every year except one since I started coming to Roskilde in 2004, so I would hate to see a situation where all the early arrivers are packed like sardines into the 445 camping squares, and when "enough" people have arrived on tuesday/wednesday they decide to open the P area.

The RF management should be able to decide whether or not to open all of the areas by looking at the ticket sales. I realize that even one more agora probably costs a lot of money, but a negative experience due to shortage of space for the campers is definitely going to be more expensive in the long run.

My guess is they'll open P sometime during Sunday when they realize how crowded it's gonna get.

Parts of it would be my guess.

Yes, I think that's my main concern. They will have to open it, there just isn't enough space. Even with the 50,000 ticket sales figure that they hit a few days ago there wouldn't be enough space, let alone the amount they're going to have sold once the festival is on.

I don't want to be packed in like sardines, as you say, and then when it reaches breaking point, they open P, only for it to half fill up because people have compromised their festival experience for arriving a little late.

It's a big field south east of the site. It's not on this year's map. Last year the tents were in a circular shape around the agora.

Oh, the old M/P area. I've camped there 3 years in a row from 4 to 6, and i have to say that despite of the somewhat remote location, the place was fucking amazing! I wouldnt mind staying there again, but i would prefer the lower parts of L.
