Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

So any new favourites? I think Juana Molina is the best act there is this year. Also La Chiva Gantiva, Moodoid and Encida seem interesting. Balkan Khans for a party.

I recently picked up Future Islands after their amazing performance at David Letterman, so I'm pretty stoked about seeing them at Roskilde. Drug Honkey is new to me, seems rad. Also, the person who put The Horrors in small print needs a spanking.

Edit: Forgot to mention Ryley Walker.

We all do. icon_biggrin.gif That singer of Future Islands surely has got it. I want the whole crowd doing those same moves when they play.

The Horrors, Electric Wizard and The Ocean are immediate standouts to me, but will need to check out most of the names for sure.

So far I've found a few personal gems in the release:

La Chiva Gantiva also stroke me as an immidiate favourite. It will be a party for sure.

Vic Mensa. Saw this guy warming up for Danny Brown just a few weeks back, and even as a warm-up act he got the concert jumping and going crazy. I'll be there again for sure.

Future Islands as someone else mentioned.

But I'll dig further...

Have been listening to Future Islands constantly since discovering them yesterday. Actually just ordered their latest album at cdwow.
Would also recommend you guys check out Darkside's gig from The Boiler Room NYC. Really interesting

So far:
Future Islands, as I was really hoping on. So happy they are coming!! (Btw, what stage do you think they will play on?)
Banks, her voice is just spell bounding. So beautiful music. She is def gonna get big this year!
Warpaint, really liked The Fool when it came out, and that was a couple of years ago so it will be nice to catch up with them this spring and then see them at Roskilde.
obviously!!

Moodoïd sound very promising. When listening to one of their tracks I was reminded of Tame Impala. And sure enough, it turns out Kevin Parker was involved in the creation of their EP. Apparently the frontman is guitarist for Melody's Echo Chamber as well.

Yes, they´re quite high on my list too after watching some youtube clips of their live shows. Need to score some LSD for this one. icon_wink.gif

Future Islands and The Ocean are pretty obvious recommendations as small letter bands (and I'll probably wind up seeing them both). Other than that I can recommend listening to a song or two by Jambinai and Julian Holter. They'll both probably grow a lot on me up until Roskilde.

I saw Jambinai last year, and though I can´t recall much of that concert I´ll try to catch them again. Also saw Julia Holter in RF 2010 (something like 4-5 songs) and based on that she´s a must-see this time around. Magic that was. Somehow Juana Molina reminds me of her, don´t know why, she just does.

Lots of recommendations for the Ocean, have to check them out too.

I know some people are against The Horrors being in small print, but since they're there I have to say I'm really starting to like them.

Drug Honkey seems to be VERY excited to play Roskilde, and most of their latest status updates are about the festival.
And we all know that bands that enjoy themselves on stage will get very much positive feedback from the crowd! I'm going to put them on my to-do-list.

I think that´s a good choice. Smells like a party, that one.
