Quick guide for the search

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Hey Guys and thank you for a great festival!!!

What has happened with the sound-policy?

The sound on Orange this year was much louder than in the last years. There must be some kind of explanation.

Don't get me wrong. I am not complaining over the soundlevel being higher. I am loving it. Orange stage has been annoying over a couple of years because of sound level being way to low. So this year was perfect for me!!!

I think the sound was lower than usual. At least my ears didnt start to bleed at the concerts I watched at orange unlike some previous years.

All in all I think the sound staff nailed it really well. Almost every concert at orange had amazing sound imo.

I also thought the sound was louder, but more importantly better, than previous years. And this goes for all stages (didn't visit Cosmopol, Apollo and Gloria though).

Well done, Roskilde.

Last year I had to tell a lot of people to shut up at the Jack White concert and I wasn't even that far away, close to the outer fence.
This year I thought the sound was way better. The National had incredibly good sound from where I was standing at least. And James Blake as well.

Great sound this year! The Slipknot-show was far too low for 25-30 minutes though, and I was in the second pit..

Slipknot was where I noticed the sound being much lower too. In '09 my ears were actually quite painful during and after the concert. It was probably the loudest concert I have been too. This year it was nowhere near the same. Have to say I preferred it this year. I was in the second pit too (both in '09 and '13)

I think the sound engineers managed to have far more low-end/sub in the sound systems compared to previous years. Unfortunately for me this more or less defeated the purpose of wearing ear-plugs as it created a nasty resonating tickling in my ears (I need to wear ear plus even at moderate concert levels because of hearing problems).

I think for people who have normal ears the sound quality and volume must have been pretty good.

Especially the sound at Apollo was fantastic, mainly because it was mostly electronic/DJ performance there but I was some of the best sound I have heard in a long time.

yes, the sound at Orange was superb again IMO.

Last year I was at RF with friends who have been to quite many concerts but never had been at RF before and they were amazed by the sound quality, at Springsteen, for example. We were quite at the rear, and still had brillant sound.

that the sound is not just good, but usually brilliant (and may very well be state of the art for such a location) is just one of the nice details at RF.

I agree that the very low bass at orange may have even improved. I agree as well that the sound at Apollo was particularly brillant, so clear and powerful, I was quite blown away by that.

Cant understand, by the way, why some people think, Orange should be replaced by smaller stages. It's such a beautiful stage, and, for me, the symbol for all of the nice things at RF.
As others wrote as well, even the James Blake concert worked on sunday afternoon. Certainly it was not a crowd of 50.000, but everybody seemed to have a good time.

And, a little off topic, I would like to make a compliment on the lightshows, as well, on all the stages, and especially at Orange. It was after Rihanna, I think, when I just watched the orange stage for a while, when the light techs, for whatever reason, over 10 or 15 Minutes obviously switched on all the lighting there potentially was, one after the other: A show in itself, very impressive and beautiful, even without any music.

Did any of you go to the Chase & Status-concert? Because of an early flight on Sunday to Greece, I had to leave for the camp area after Metallica. Still, when I got back to my tent, it felt like having Chase & Status playing 'Blind Faith' just outside my tent. My camp was located at the WEST 1-entrance. The music sounded crazy loud even though it had to penetrate multiple music areas (Cosmopol, Pavilion and Apollo).
