Quick guide for the search

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

A new stage in the campsite for the warmup days, this Rising will replace Pavillion Junior.
Odeon and Cosmopol are both being closed down.
A new stage named Avalon will open up and take over for Odeon and Cosmopol.

What are your thoughts? Good? Bad?
Do you think this will result in a complete shift in stage placement?

I dont really know how i feel about it yet, but i am quite pleased with the fact that Rising will be in City Center East, i think it could be a lot of fun.

Replacing the two medium sized stages with one stage seems to mean fewer concerts at Roskilde and especially fewer medium sized concerts, I wonder if that is true.

Also I don't know how they will make the stage flexible with 3000-12000 capacity.

But it's hard to say anything definate before we know more.

Both Soundvenue and Gaffa are running the story and the source is Roskilde Festival twitter, so I'm sure it's correct.

Obviously it means less concerts and personally I'm worried that it mean a lot lesser rock bands.

I also wonder how the new stage works and where they'll place it.

No, no, noooooo. Cosmopol is absolutely my favourite stage with a perfect capacity for world music parties... And though I´m always overwhelmed by the amount of bands I´d like to see, the variety is after all a good thing. This doesn´t sound good... icon_rolleyes.gifbanghead.gif

I don't really mind closing down Pavilion Junior and opening Rising instead. I never got around to walking to City Center East this year, so it'll mean I'll get to see that part of the site as well.

I'm a bit worried about closing down Odeon and Cosmopol though. But we need to get more facts on the table. AOK reports that the new scene, Avalon, will have both open air and tent shows. Furthermore they speculate that it'll mean 20-25 fewer bands next year.

This is confirmed by Rikke Øxner to Politiken. They stage will be placed in the Cosmopol area. They don't know what to do with the Odeon area yet. My guess is it will be VIP camp area or something like.

I wasn't a fan of adding Apollo since it meant a lot of extra bands for the same budget, so having 20 fewer bands might be a good idea, if it means that RF can book slightly bigger bands (especially if the music budget also increases), but it's probably hard to judge before we see the music programe for RF2014.

It´s just that if and when Apollo stays home for electronic acts we´ll get 40 of those anyway. So there will be less "normal" bands.

It´s kind of difficult to understand why this will be, as the difficulty has been in filling the bigger stages and now we got one more to fill. And the size of the band has never mattered to me, great concerts on both Cosmopol and Odeon. Actually the around 5000 audience bands have been great. Guess we´ll just have to wait and see, but still not liking this.... banghead.gif

Hmm don't really know what to think about all these changes, and I wonder why they had to close down odeon and cosmopol???

The sustainable zone around Odeon never got to work like the festival have hoppede.

And if we look at the historie of Roskilde, killing stage and making new ones have happent many times.

This qoute is from the news from 10th of january called Roskilde Festival 2014 Starts Here

In total, you’ll find seven stages on RF14 – Apollo, Pavilion, Avalon, Orange Stage, Gloria, Arena and Rising - and a heck lot of beautiful sound, lights and visuals, which we integrate into the music experience to the extent that you are unlikely to meet at any other festival.

Either they forgot to add Apollo Countdown or else we only have Rising during the warm up days, does anyone know a little bit more?

That would be fine by me. If we´ll get 160 bands, 40-50 on Apollo would be overdoing it...

Guess there is Apollo Countdown after all. And yes 50 acts on Apollo is overdoing it.

Yes that was answering my question.

But it seems like there will be 5 Countdown and 6 Rising/Junior band less compared to last year because it seems like it goes back to the old times with no sunday concerts.

If I have counted it right we will see 31 Apollo/Countdown acts if the label night is counted as one act and 37 if they are counted seperately.

I'm not a fan of the Rising Stages placement. That's a looong walk from B.
