Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

For: They have just reunited.
Have played at Roskilde before, twice I think.
Have evolved and are very popular.
Plays their first concerts in the original line-up just before Roskilde.
Are (self-) confirmed for Glastonbury, Oxegen and T in the Park, all European festivals that takes place about the same time as Roskilde.
A radio-host (Tony Scott) said that he had heard from the "highest places" in the Roskilde organization that they would play Roskilde this year.

Against: That they could be seen as too similar to Oasis and Coldplay (remember though that there will probably be 8 headliners. We've got 3 allready and probably still needs 1: a big rap/hip-hop act, 2: an old timer (like Cohen), 3: a big electronic act and finally 4:an old-school metal/heavy act. It seems to be like this every year, and if this is the case there is still an 8. Headlining slot available.)
That they play two brithish shows on the thursday and friday during Roskilde, leaving only two available dates for a lot of competing festivals.

I think that all in all, theres a pretty good chance.

There is a very good chance of them playing RF this year. But I agree there needs more variation.

Blur would be nice, but I prefer The Black Crowes! Time for some old school rock!

I would love Blur, but it seems like they, sadly enough, picked Oasis instead. I just can't see that many brit pop acts at the same festival either, sorry.

I don't see why Coldplay playing would affect Blur's chances of playing. They're both completely different genres. Coldplay represents a singer/songwriter choice more than 'brit-pop'.

Singer/songwriter? I don't see them going near that genre in any of the albums I've heard... and I've heard them all. They're not brit pop per say, I agree with that one, neither is Blur really, but they do sound british... as do Oasis and Blur, and I'm guessing that's the comparison being made here. Don't forget to add Madness to the bunch...

Well i guess alternative rock with a singer/songwriterish feel to it. I wasn't sure exactly what category they go in but they're definitely on the different side of things than blur though!

yeah Madness could be seen as being quite similar by some people, but... i wanna see both! icon_biggrin.gif

And Glastonbury the week before Roskilde, as mentioned.

But in the end it comes down to how many spots that are available at Orange. They play gigs in London on thursday and friday during the festival. That leaves something like 8 spots at Orange, two of which are allready filled. Minimum.

I sure hope though!

Wow, thats a set-back. But on the other hand, when they all-redy got Coldplay on sunday, saturday were the most realistic guess anyway. If it were to happen...
