If we get the classic oldie like we've had the last years, I've got the idea that it would be either Iggy Pop, Leonard Cohen og Elvis Costello as the dark horse. This is mostly based on personal preferences though. Alice Cooper could be a good guess too I think, but we'll see.

Yes, obviously I'm putting my preferences aside now that BB King is out of the question. Not a fan of Tom Jones.

Paul McCartney would be amazing as the oldie act. From what ive seen from his Coachella concert he seems to be in great form.
Bookers, spend your money on him and Airbourne.

I'm 90% certain they don't know Airbourne. Typical band that flies under their radar.

I was thinking that, but they just don't seem to fit in with Brian Wilson, Roger Waters, Neil Young, and whoever else I can't think of right now.

Bob Dylan? The old fossil who was throat singing behind his keyboard.

Other people claim that Pet Shop Boys are the electronic act...which would be sort of missing if they are booked as the "Oldies".
Just had a look, neither 02, 03 or 07 had the old-timer solo act. Whereas 01 had both Neil Young (with crazy horse), Bob Dylan (and Nick Cave) and 04 had Santana, Iggy Pop and David Bowie...
What the prgramme is lacking this year though is the old-timers in general. I cant think of many acts this year who's made music since the early 70'es or even late 60'es...besides probably Tony Allen, who I've never heard of before.

I would like to nominate Steve Earle & The Dukes for '02 and The Who for '07 for she spot. I'm not saying it has to be a solo act. It's just got to be old, and got that certain taste to it. Hard to put the finger on it. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Pet Shop Boys does not qualify in this respect.
Sorry to be vague.

I know what you mean. I used to try to avoid those concerts as I thought seing my old-timer idols would alter my perception of them for the worse - I like to think of them as when they were in their prime (often back in the 70'es). But after hearing good things about a lot of those concerts, fx. Black Sabbath, and watching Neil Young last year which was great, I now really want those legends. And they just are'nt there - except to some extent Nick Cave - this year...

I very much doubt that will happen, but Van Morrison would be excellent!
