Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Thank God!

Not that they're bad or anything, just thought it would be a waste to book them again considering their last album is overhyped drivel.

Agreed! A thousand times agreed! They should return to their old style, as you hear it in Youth and Young Manblood.

Not that I don't like when bands evolve, I just don't like how they've turned out. Really had something before.

My thoughts exactly. 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' in particular is a fucking classic record, i still listen to it all the time. Then they returned with this U2/Nickelback hybrid, dropped the filthy guitar sound... dropped the nonsense vocals... dropped the total 'rock!' feeling of it all. its all such a shame.

I totally agree that booking them would be a waste of money, considering their concert at the festival just last year. It was a really, really good concert, don't get me wrong, but I think people would rather see bands that haven't been at Roskilde that recently.

I know what you're saying about their new stuff, however I really like Because Of The Times. It's quite different to the first two albums (which are ace), but there's some really good stuff on there. It's only the latest album that I haven't given much time. They've definitely changed their direction.

Great to see people agreeing! icon_biggrin.gif

All of my friends think I'm a maniac for saying that.

@Liam - Because of the Times is definitely better than Only By the Night, but I think, already then, that they're turning into something boring and one-sided. Not saying it's terrible, but from my point of view, it's just a step in the wrong direction.

Have seen them at their first gig at Roskilde... disappointing... definetely a boring live band. I liked the first two albums, but the rest... icon_rolleyes.gif

Because of the times is my favourite. It simply has the most good songs, with a couple of peaks. I dig.

I don't agree with "they've sold out". Sure the new album has been toned down, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, does it?

I think the vocals are better than ever, and they show a lot more imagination than on previous records where they were a simple rock n roll band (in a good way)

So let's see if they don't progress on the next album into a combination of both.

On its own terms the new album is great! It's just that some expected more flat out rock n roll. There are plenty of bands that can give you that. icon_wink.gif

Tone down isn't necessarily a decrease in quality, no. But in terms of Kings Of Leon, I definitely feel they've lost some edge and quality on their latest album. The guitar arrangements are mediocre at best, and often they serve no ther purpose than to add to the vocals which have become the center of their music... not usually how a rock n roll band works in my book, that's pretty much the receipe for pop. Even the whole production seems downright flat at times. It's not a shit album, but if this was the only thing Kings Of Leon was, I wouldn't listen to them at all. No need to say, they've said that U2 has been their biggest influence on that album, since they were touring with them prior to recording, and in my ears, it shows.

Kings of Leon is the best band in the world right now!
I´ve got tickets for the concert in Forum the 7. July, so I will have a good time, and you will miss a great concert!

And Lord Beef Jerky don't know what is he talking about!

ok? meaningless post.. I have a feeling you became a fan AFTER Only By The Night came out? No offence.. But if you actually heard their earlier work you would agree they have became more mainstream - not that they cant make music or anything!

I agree with Lord Beef Jerky..

I agree on the fact that Kings of Leon has gone more mainstream on Only By The Night. But Youth & Young Manhood, Aha Shake Heartbreak & Because Of The Time are all freaking awesome. I'm gonna see them in Forum and I just hope they won't play more than about 5 tracks from Only By The Night.

The new mainstream sound is utterly disappointing considering their potential. To begin at Y&YMH and arrive at OBTN is a musical failure that just so happens to have made them millions of dollars. Hard not to argue they have sold out. Even harder not be utterly pissed off with them when they make arrogant statements like they did in Irish music magazine Hot Press late last year that they "hate the first two records". So how should the fans feel that were there through those early times buying those great albums and catching their shows? I refuse to accept that songs like 'sex on fire' are anything but commercial vomit. So do they really think this commercial vomit is better? or is that the back pocket talking?.
Dont get me wrong here, I am all for directional change in a bands music, that's were the art is. But KOL are a great band that changed for the worst. Maybe they will turn it around next album but it seems clear to me where the principals of this band lie now.
p.s. I wouldn't worry too much if you missed KOL last year. I would if you missed Santogold though.

True, they were great.. But the sound was almost identical too the CD/album ..

I didn't get a good "Live preformance vibe", but I sure as hell got a kickass good consert in almost perfect weathercondition icon_wink.gif
