Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

can you guys tell me why you dont like hiphop?

i just would like to know, i have been wondering why people can judge an entire scene of music based on 3-10 mainstream artists.

I agree ... But there are a lot of Big Hip hop names in the world for exsample..Dr.Dre . common , Ice cube , out-kast.. Not really but still.. T.I , lil Wayne , Nas , missy elliot, Chamillonier ,The roots , The Game,
Eminem snoop and jay z aren't the only rappers in the world icon_biggrin.gif

But i would like to see Kasabian on the list that would be awesome i Think

I LOVE HIP-HOP!!! But I just think that Eminem, Snoop, 50 cent and Jay-z is the only hip-hop acts who is headliner material right now. Common and The Roots isn't headliners. I've seen both in Vega, and none of them would fit orange stage, but would be PERFECT in arena or maybe cosmopol.

And how dare you mention Chamillionaire in the same sentence as Roots, Common, Nas, Outkast, Ice cube??!?! icon_wink.gif

Missy would be cool, definantly!

The problem with hiphop is, that you have to make that generic poppish music if you want to attract a large audience - all the good artists keep strugglin' icon_smile.gif

If I have to strike the middle-of-the-road - wouldnt Method Man & Redman be headline material? They also recently released Blackout II.. And they're both very good performers! (Saw Method Man in vega and he ripped the place apart!)

My only request is that 50cent, Lilwayne, T-Pain, Flo Rida, Chamillionaire and all those R&B-sound-a-likes crap stay the fuck away from my festival!!

Bring me a Def-Jux showcase (El-P, Cage, Aesop Rock, RJD2, Cannibal Ox, Mr. Lif, Murs) to make me even more happy icon_smile.gif

Method Man and Redman could easily pull Orange off, but i think that Arena or Cosmopol would create a much more unique concert(oh and i respect their tributes to ODB but sometimes they drag it a little to long)

what about Rakim?

I'd go with that. And put Wu-Tang at the hiphop headliner, but don't know if they will headline without the mighty ol dirty (rest in peace).
Eminem would be fun actually.
And get Method & Red, their show at Vega was crazy. And please bring R.A The Rugged Man to the Cosmopol!

That, and I don't recognize the talent. Bitches and bling gets real old, real fast. I know not all hiphop is about that, but then about some other form of pretentious shit, like how much better current track is than some other equally pretentious shit.

Also I don't like the entire subculture. Speaking like a twat and wearing Fuck U Buy Us doesn't make you cool. Seriously.

I could go on.

Heres my guesses so far:

Headliners:
Blink 182, Blondie, Daft Punk, Eminem, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Muse, The Strokes, Tool

Sub-headliners:
Animal Collective, Arcade Fire, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Gogol Bordello, Kashmir, Kent, Klaxons, MGMT, Nephew, Selvmord, Them Crooked Vultures, Wolfmother
+ Calvin Harris, David Guetta or Kid CuDi

Other names:
Band Ane, Dúné, Electrojuice, The Horrors, Kings of Convenience, The Kissaway Trail, La Roux, Florence and the Machine, Marina and the Diamonds, Maskinen, Miike Snow, Non+, Passion Pit, The Rumour Said Fire, Simian Mobile Disco

... not sure if Them Crooked Vultures is a headline-sized band, considering their members.

thats what i thought. but wasnt there are lot of opposition against Grinderman as a headliner? which could lead roskilde to not make a mistake like that again and putting a debuting band as a headliner?

but in that case:
remove Blink 182, Blondie, Iggy Pop or The Strokes and put Them Crooked Vultures up there

Well, Grinderman were sort of a niche-band and TCV have a lot more mass-appeal and have had much more success (in shorter time also), so I'd say they would headline icon_smile.gif

And remove Blondie from there icon_smile.gif Iggy, strokes and blink are all definantly headliners..

aye then.. but that'd mean only one oldies
i may be mistaking.. but arent there usually two oldies among the headliners? :p

but considering theres a bigger chance of TCV than Blondie.. I think my guess for headliners are:

Blink 182, Daft Punk, Eminem, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Muse, The Strokes, Them Crooked Vultures, Tool

Sounds plausible.. But also - Roskilde have only had hiphop-headliners for the past 6 years - if there are no-one good touring I dont see them having one this year at all..
And are Tool even touring or rumoured to be? (btw. Tool would make my festival!)

See thats my thinking! Lets not forget it used to be a rocknroll festival icon_cool.gif No need to book Hip Hop headliners if there arent any good ones touring - thats genius.. or just plain logic!

I havent really checked up on bands touring. Well. Blink 182, Daft Punk, Iggy and The Strokes are as far as ive heard. not sure about the rest, but it just seemed possible to me icon_smile.gif

Question is what kind of artist they'd bring in if they can't get Eminem. Jay-Z is a possibility, but I really hope they don't! And I can't really see any other hip-hop acts at this moment headlining.
Maybe it'll give an extra spot for something like Metallica or System of a Down maybe?

well. that makes the puzzle harder.
Green Day could be brought in, but I think Blink 182 and Green Day are too similar for both to happen.
another possibility could be Robbie Williams? thou thats prolly also very unlikely

has blink ever perfomed in denmark? because then it defenently would be a nice add to the lineup (nonetheless, they haven't been at rf, but Green day has)

Well I guess wu-tang would be okay and they re indeed still a headliner...but imo they re over the hill and they have been on the poster before
Eminem would be fun, but I dont feel like he would fit in.

The hiphop-headline is not obvious:
Eminem, Kanye, Jay-z, 50 cent, Snoop, the game all (sorry) quite boooring!

Maybe a year without a major hiphop-act would create room for moore rock n roll icon_cool.gif
