Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

The man, the myth, the legend...

The man from the swedish Academy Award nominated documentary Searching for Sugar Man is on tour and has recently played on Letterman. (And it seems like the documentary will win the award as well).

Don't miss out on this Roskilde!

If you haven't heard about the documentary or the man himself you're really missing out.

The documentary is a bittersweet true story about a singer/songwriter who unknowingly became a huge star and political figure in the 70s movement against Apartheid in South Africa and sold millions of albums in the process. On the other side of the Atlantic he had already ended his musical career in the 70s and continued with hard labour, dirty jobs and became more or less a working class hero in Detroit, without ever knowing about his success in other parts of the world. Until 30 years later!

His songwriting is REALLY in the same league as people like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Donovan and Nick Drake but completely different.

Here are some songs and you will be probably be as amazed as I was the first time I heard Rodriguez!

Yeah I heard about him the other day on P6 Beat, sounded really interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the poster.

Rodriguez is also playing at the Primavera festival in Barcelona this year, so let us hope he will make it to Roskilde. That would be cool!

There is also a connection between Sweden and Rodriguez due to the director of the film, so maybe he will swing by both Sweden and Roskilde.

He would be the perfect for Roskilde! And I guess they will show the film as well... (would be rather strange if they didn't)

He already played in Sweden last year, on Way Out West. Was pretty low-profile, I guess the film hadn't impacted yet.

You're usually pretty good at the guessing-part, so how do you think Rodriguez' chances are?

Well, he has just been announced at the Stockholm Music & Arts Festival 2.-4. august. Guess that Øya were full of shit – and that leaves him as a possibility for Roskilde again.

*Bumping this one*

Yesterday I finally got to sit down and watch "Searching For Sugarman", even though I've known about it for months. One of the most amazing true stories I have ever been told, and just like most others I was blown away by what we got to hear from the man's music.

Off course I went straight to Google, Allmusic, etc. and startet searching/reading as soon as the film was finished, I was even more amazed when I found out that he is touring this summer and already booked to Oslo and Stockholm.

Considering his history, myth and legend, as well the music he plays, Rodriguez is a PERFECT artist for Roskilde. Sincerely hope they will announce him, and like skallgrimsson says: his schedule is free between Glastonbury 26. june and (now) Stockholm Music & Arts 2.-4. august, which surely makes it possible that Roskilde is among the gigs that will be filled in.

As Thomas said he´ll only play Oyafestivalen in Scandinavia this summer according to Oyafestivalens web page. It´s a great movie and the music is really good, I mean it´s not often you´ll hear anything as good as Rodriques. Hopefully Oya´s web page is full of it. Otherwise it just won´t happen this year, sadly.

As written above, he is also playing at the Stockholm Music & Arts Festival, so Øya are lying through their teeth.
