Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

We all know that Bruce isn't going to be the Sunday act, so i hope AND think that they still haven't announced this. Unless it's going to be Björk, but to me she isn't a Sunday act. SO what about these acts:

Snoop Dogg, playing in London Friday, Dublin Saturday?
RHCP, playing in Milan Thursday?
Mötley Crüe (not considering them as a Sunday act)
Kiss
Bon Jovi (wild guess)
Cypress Hill

Bjørk is a sunday act, since she has confirmed on her website, that she will play on sunday. I wouldn't expect any other headliner to play on sunday, at least not a big one like Bjørk.

I didn't know that. But still, what about

Snoop Dogg, playing in London Friday, Dublin Saturday?
RHCP, playing in Milan Thursday?
Mötley Crüe (not considering them as a Sunday act)
Kiss
Bon Jovi (wild guess)
Cypress Hill

as the last headliner?

Snoop Dogg - one more hip hop headliner? Not impossible, but I don't seem to recall Roskilde having done so before. Also, the hip hop programme is qualitative big this year, don't know if we need more.
Cypress Hill - see above
RHCP - after their last show at Roskilde, I'm not sure if they're even ALLOWED to go near Roskilde again.
Mötley Crüe - could be fun, even though many people say they're horrible live (so's their records... but don't tell anyone I said so)
Kiss - aren't they playing somewhere else in DK this summer? Could be fun though.
Bon Jovi - aaaaah, I'm not sure if they fit Roskilde's profile.... I'm not even sure if Mötley Crüe or Kiss fits it, but Bon Jovi has evolved more into a Køge Beachparty band over the years. I don't hope they'll spend their last money on these guys.

My guess is Moby as the last headliner. We need an electronic act that can fill the Orange stage, and he seems to be close to the only opportunity out there.

I see what you mean. Another act could also be Duran Duran?

True that... they "recently" played Roskilde though, so I'm hoping for something else. But they're definitely an opportunity.

2005 is kinda recent in Roskilde terms, but then again, The Chemical Brothers played RF thrice in a decade...

How about Orbital or Leftfield for a late electronic subliner?

At the pressconference a person asked if Red Hot Chili Peppers could be on the poster this year. Rikke said that there wasn't room.. She didn't exclude them for later festivals though

I really hope we'll get more bands from Finland, for example LAPKO (new album coming and i think they've never played in Roskilde before).

Which acts until now could play Apollo (not counting Apollo Countdown acts)?
Modeselektor
Pretty Lights (Maybe Cosmopol)
AraabMUZIK
Amsterdance
Toddla T (Maybe Cosmopol)

I think all these acts will be too big for Apollo. Especially AraabM, i kinda expecting this guy to be the to guy watch from the electronic artists, he's amazing....

Ruslabox wrote:

I'm also curious whether there will be one more electronic subliner - if not, Paul Kalkbrenner probably gets the saturday-night electronic spot at Orange.

I dont think we will have any electronic acts at orange this year. And to be honest, i prefer it that way, those acts are better on the smaller stages.

A lot of us on this forum have discussed Roskilde-related stuff for some years. Let's welcome the new ones and kindly tell them how things normally work instead of these angry posts.

But the last 15 acts icon_razz.gif...

Have any of you guys heard the former drummer of fleet foxes' new project? It's called Father John Misty, and the track Hollywood Cemetery Gates is one of the strongest tracks I've heard this year - it's more classic rock a la Neil Young so even if you didn't like Fleet Foxes you should try and give it a listen http://youtu.be/KtOToiIDNRA ...I think he could be pretty big, and he has had quite some airplay on the Danish radio channel P6 Beat. Maybe he could be one of the last 15?

Really?

Ok, i really dont wanna be the guy arguing online, and im sure you dont either, so lets try and keep sand-filled vaginas out of this, noone likes their vaginas served sandy anyway.

But since when is it a rule, law, whatever, that the danish festivals dont share big international names? Last year Kaizers O played both Skanderborg and Roskilde.

The reason that the big names dont often play more than one danish festival (or concert, for that matter) has nothing to do with a lack if will to share. It is because DK is so small, and the bands schedules dont allow for them to return this often. Also, if the big bands play more than one show, it's usualy same venue, so it's cheaper for them and Bono, Lars Ulrich and the rest of the capitalist elitist 'artists' can make a decent profit. This has very little to do with the festivals, really. They just try and get the big acts they can.

And where many people are complaining about allegedly spending a fortune on bringing Bruce S to Roskilde, i am fairly certain he was brought in, because he was the only heavyweight name that was available at the time. Same goes for Prince and a lot of previous headliners.

And if the festivals actually have a choice, they will pick the artist that fits the festivals style and reputation the best. I think anyone can agree, that Blur and Bruce prob where better fitted, if they switched festivals, but it just doesn't work that way, i am afraid.

Like they say in Kenya: Big, Medium and Caucasian

Got to say that Bruce is the perfect Roskilde artist in my view, with the ability to gather all types of music lovers at Orange regardless of age etc

I have absolutely no idea of whereabouts he is at that time, but it's exactly the type of artist that should fit the profile for the artists in small print. Established, but rather new and fresh.

Excellent suggestion!

Well, I have never tried to make it a secret, and if you are on here regularly you can easily see it the same poster as the name on the old posts and threads (before the name change) also changes.

You are welcome to think whatever you like of why I've done it, but you are wrong about my motivation icon_wink.gif

I never really thought about it. I was in doubt for maybe 1 minute but after reading a couple of posts you can easily see it in the writing style, and some of the opinions on certain subjects that usually turn into very long winded discussions.

I see nothing wrong with changing your username if you so desire. Just annoying that the forum doesn't have a tracker that shows formerly used usernames in the profile but I digress, this forum is never going to be more than a half-arsed attempt at creating a real forum and a real community like there was on the old forum.
