tirsdag 20.03.12 Will they let you in when you ring the doorbell?Imagine a wall made of doors that winds its way through Poor City at Roskilde Festival. Some of the doors are open, while others are ajar or locked. You can knock on the door or ring the doorbell. Maybe they’ll let you in, maybe they won’t – you never know. Together with the Danish Architecture Center, we present the winner of the Build What Here contest that has been held for the second time. The design contest sought an architectural design that will engage festival participants – something that makes them stop and think. 89 creative souls have been battling to win. Five students from Aalborg came out on top as the winners with the design project Open Borders: a giant wall made of doors, created to raise awareness of asylum seekers’ status in Scandinavia. The winning project is designed by Mikkel Jensen, Louise Færch Gjerulff, Andreas Møller Nielsen, Kasper Johannessen og Karin Sanfridson. The project will be exhibited at the Danish Architecture Centre along side with a number of other submitted projects beginning 25 May 2012. You can experience the installation in Poor City at the festival this summer. | ![]() Get excited for the Open Borders installation in Poor City this summer. |
