  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

How Fun (or Bad) was Roskilde for everyone?

Unfortunately I think that on a lot of levels this past Roskilde was not really my most fun or the best one I have been to so far. Now while I think the weather was great this year, it was a little too hot so I didn't move around as much as I have in the past when the weather was slightly crappier or wetter. I also didn't get to see as many bands as I have in the past and it seemed as if certain stages which normally are pretty accessable, were totally packed and it made it hard to see some of the bands. But what I think sucked the most, was actually my camp. Not that the people in it were bad or anything like that, it is just that I took too much on as it were. The person who started our camp last year pretty much abandoned us shortly after the 1st day of the Festival, so we were left leaderless as it were. Then the following year I took over the camp and tried my best to make sure we had everything our origianl camp lacked. Such as the T-Shirts we were promised, but never got. Which was kind of a disaster, as almost no one in my camp paid me back for them and they were not cheap ( I actually only asked to be paid back in a drink and a meal, and they couldn't even manage that). Plus lugging over 30 shirts was not fun at all and I think we had way too many people in our camp, as we topped over 30 at some points. Most of them smokers which was also something else that sucked as I had lung and coughing problems for almost a month after Roskilde as a result. So all in all Roskilde to me felt more like work or a punishment at times instead of an actual vacation, which is exactly what it was supposed to be. Anyway what did other people think or feel about Roskilde 2009?

The Heat - I completely agree, it was far too hot. I wish every year was like 2006, it was just right. I always remember it as a hot year, yet I never remember complaining that it was too hot. I know what you mean about not moving around so much as a result of it. I also think the site has become quite difficult to move around due to the gravel pit (as mentioned in another topic, the food at West is dire), so I'd love to have travelled to East more to buy stuff from the bakery, pizza place and other awesome places. In the heat however, it was impossible to keep doing. Also, that gravel they've laid near the entrances to the festival site is SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!! Please ditch it for next year, it's very, very irritating.

Stages being Packed - Again, totally agree with you. There's never been such an issue in the past, even when the festival has been sold out, so I can only reach the conclusion that day tickets were to blame. The Arena was ridiculous for many concerts this year, for instance.

Sorry to hear that this year wasn't your best experience at the festival ever, however I'm sure you'll have learnt things which will benefit you in future years. I've made my other annoyances regarding this year's festival clear in another topic somewhere, where I posted my letter to the festival.

My Roskilde was pretty good actually, but there were some low points..

-The heat, as both of you mentioned caused me to just sit in the shade in our camp for way too long, and drained a lot of energy, causing me to not be bothered to party or see some concerts..

-Being robbed was certainly a low point... 800DKK, my bankcard and my driver`s license being lost on the saturday is not much fun... Thankfully i had brought an extra bankcard with me just incase something like this was to happen! That is something that i recommend everyone to do, especially if your coming from abroad, as i wouldnt be able to get back to Norway without a form of identification..

-Some other Norwegiens who were camping next to us and who didnt have any camping chairs or a pavilllion.... You can imagine how that turned out.. For some reason, since we invited them to sit with us the first day, the rest of the week they seemed to think we were all sharing the camp, which led to hours of us sitting in the full-on sun without chairs... And untill Saturday (when i was in a particulary bad mood because of being robbed) i didnt dare to tell them to get out...I`m too kind..

Other than that i had great fun!icon_smile.gif Saw some absolutely awesome shows, and had loads of fun partying times in the camping site! See you all next year!

For me, it was equally as fun at '07 and '08. It was TOO HOT though. I tended to sweat just standing around, which was pretty yucl. Denmark, lift your act and drop it a couple of degrees. Mind you, I went home with a killer tan. 'Where've you been?' they asked at work. 'Scandinavia,' I replied with a grin.

Just a comment on your lung problem after the festival. I don't think it was the smokers around you. It is my professional opinion that it was the dust. I think a LOT of people had coughing issues after the festival. I had a cough for a good two weeks after the festival. A really, really bad cough like I've not had before - breathing in and out deeply caused significant wheezing... was a little worrying but worked out OK.

I experience the exact same cough as Major just described, and so did my girlfriend, my 3 other friends who travelled with me, my sister, and my sister`s boyfriend:p

'06 was really bad for dust in the festival site. I came back with a really bad cough, everytime I tried to talk or laugh on the way home I'd just cough.

I put it down to smoking loads at the time, but reading this, I'm not so sure.

Things that "sucked" this year were basically the sun and my eyes that were really irritaded during daytime either because of the sun or dust. I saw lot of great gigs and being a person who gets really easily annoyed by idiot people I enjoyed most of the concerts. Only at Röyksopp the amount of idiots was too high and I had to leave.

About camping: I think the camp was definitely better than last year (which by the way is the same camp as Uslander's).

All in all it was a good year, even though I was crying during the days. icon_smile.gif

2009 was my best roskilde year.
Yeah it was very very hot but I will take that over 07 icon_smile.gif

It was the best music year for me and the best party year at the camping, and the best camping spot I think.

So on all point it was my best year

I totally agree on what you said about the best music year! Just saw sooo many fantastic shows!
And this was also the best year when it comes to camping spots too! I`m definately gonna be heading back towards E next year too (if its still there)!

honestly i don't think i have a single complaint, well other than the heat being waaaaaay to hot, but hey, no one can do anything about that, and it helped the night time being warmer too which was great! music wise, camp wise, and everything else was just awesome.. i guess i was lucky though icon_razz.gif

oh my god, oh my god ( icon_cool.gif ), I will never forget lying in the annex of my tent gasping from the heat and pouring water over myself to cool down. Other than that I had the best festival - I'm in love with Roskilde.

Yeah ... it was also a premature n00b-calling. It's only after you're actually married you'd be considered a relationship n00b. icon_biggrin.gif

It was my first time at Roskilde Festival 2009, but already when my friend and I arrived at the queue in East, saturday morning, I just loved the athmosphere. Even the hot weather or the heavy-dust, could give me a bad experience. I'm so much going next year!

Well, we broke up, so there won't be any n00b-calling in a while icon_wink.gif

It was by far the hardest Roskilde ever for me this year.

In part because of the heat (33 degrees celcius on friday) but mostly because of my new assignment this year; being a driver at the festival. Especially from the opening of the festival site, I had to drive along the road by Camp East, which is a very difficult task, especially due to the thousands of people walking on the road, making it allmost impossible to get out of the site.

A drive from Gate 6 (Arena) to the main entrance took app. 5 minutes driving - and meant that I did a ligament in my left foot (from stepping on brake and clutch) so come saturday I was unable to walk properly, so I only got to see four concerts or so.

The concerts I saw were quite good - nothing earthshattering, but I still enjoyed myself on those occasions, nevertheless.

And of course, I'm back for 2010.

Considering the heatwave making your entire body exhausted, I found little energy to do other stuff than focusing totally on seeing the conserts.

Daytime:
The daily routine was basically waking up, 'trying' to eat neverminding the heat and sun, drinking whatever water you could find in a container..
Gathering energy to walk to the waterstand, only to find a queue aprox 15 minutes long... There you stood almost fainting (I almost did, my pulse was minimal) only to refill a 0,5l waterbottle..

Nighttime:
You drink even more alcohol than you did the night before, and your body is picking up some kind of emergencyenergy that will last you throughout the night..
During the daytime you wore almost zero clothes and your body was exposted to the sun alot, making your body got sunstruck and you start to shiver..

This was later repeated every day/night through the entire festival...

My favorite weatherweek sofar has been 2006, it was sunny and warm, but we had
this breeze that kept the temprature down, comfortable and enjoyable..
One day of rain does not hurt, quite the opposite. I can take a bit of rain aslong as it for five straight days.

PS.
I still had a really good time at Roskilde, even though I lost my wristband and some other minor stuff.... But when the weather gets beyond enjoyable, you get a tendency to get lazy icon_wink.gif

2009 was my best so far but I also tend to pick the bad years like 1997, 2002, 2004 and 2007.

Still, it was too hot for me. Everything we usually take for granted became a serious challenge such as going to the toilet, refilling your bottles with water, walking to some friends camp, concerts and such.

But my camp was awesome, our spot was perfect and the music rocked.

I loved it.

The heat made me wake up at 7 in the morning. Because i only got like 2 hours sleep i was still drunk. And for me to say, being drunk the weather is not a proplem.

2009 was the greatest year. The cough is all stuff you deal with when the festival is over..
For me give me 35 degrees!

And people who became a bit lazy durring the daytime, my advise: drink some more beers and cut a bit down on the joints untill the night.. icon_wink.gif
