Tame Impala - 3/6
They were okay, would have worked better at a night spot.

Daniel Norgren - 5/6
Graet blues, great stage - Gloria. Especially "Moonshine Got Me" was just fanstastic! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_mzUjNd0OM

PJ Harvey - 5.5/6
Didn't know her well but what a night. Need to see her again, truely mesmerizing. Best concert on Arena this year.

Bright Eyes - 4/6
Great concert, missed some acoustic solo songs though. Conor seems to be better on his own, "Poison Oak" was amazing.

Charles Bradley - 6/6
Had tears in my eyes. This 62 year old man sang/cried his pain out as was it his last concert. Fantastic!

Kurt Vile - 5/6
Just great stoner rock. Kurt Vile has written some damn good songs and the setlist was almost perfect, missed "In My Baby's Arms". Very intense show, met him afterwards - such a nice guy.

Portishhead - 5/6
Did't know them well but it was really good. Glory Box totally mesmerized me. Went to this concert on my own and I'm happy I did go.

Hymns From Nineveh - 4/6
A nice way to start saturday. The material wasn't quite strong enough for an hour, though. I guess Pavilion Jr. had worked better.

The Tallest Man on Earth - 5/6
Fantastic voice, fantastic songs, great concert.

Odd Future - 3/6
I went to Cosmopol to see these guys after Tallest Man, just had to find out why they have been so hyped. The energy was really great, the music wasn't good at all. But I understand the hype. One of the boys was rapping acapella which was great, the other guys (inclusive Tyler) have to work on their techniques live. The crowd was amazing.

James Blake - 2/6
Didn't work for me at all. Too many drunk people in the crowd ready for party. I just wanted to sit on my own, listening to this minimalistic guy on a small stage. If he wasn't that popular I would have loved seeing him at Gloria. Left after 20 minutes.

Congotronics vs Rockers 6/6
Best concert this year by far! I've never heard anything like this before. Western Indie music mixed with African music, 19 people on stage. Feat. Konono N°1, Kasai Allstars, Deerhoof, Juana Molina, Wildbirds & Peacedrums and Skeletons. Not much to say, outstanding!

Lykke Li 4/6
Great pop, did't know her well. I really missed a song like "Tonight".

The Walkmen - 4/6
Great songs, but it did't work well sunday afternoon. If I didn't know them I would have left.

All in all an amazing year! Best year since 2008 IMO.

1349 - 2/6
Ravn was a big dissapointed, it got so introvert like the where playing in the rehearsing room. And announced as black metal I expected better melodies.

Daniel Norgren - 4/6
Really nice, maybe to nice, blues concert in a very (over)crowded Gloria. Had to watch it alone because my friend went out for beer and they closed the tent while he was out. I got a nice concert. He got two beers.

Iron Maiden - 6/6
Maybe the setlist could have had more classics, maybe Bruce vocals have been better at times (it was fine though), but I think they kicked ass. Especially Gers was on fire.

Electric Wizard - 4/6
Didn't know them before, but a nice stoner rock way to wake up.

Beatsteaks - 5/6
They delivered the party I expected. Nice!

Mastodon - 5/6
Misplaced on Orange (what the fuck is wrong with you, RF?), but pulled it off. Technically I was blown away. Could easily have been a 6/6 experience at Arena.

The Tallest Man On Earth - 5/6
I had really looked forward to this, surprisingly crowded, concert and was not dissapointed. Very intense performance, strong vocals, great arrangements with/without the bass and drums. Got goosebumbs in "sometimes the blues is just a passing bird". Even my death metal friend was very into it.

Killing Joke - 5/6
Missed the first part because of Tallest Man but great show. Jaz Coleman is a crazy motherfucker...

De Eneste To - 5/6
Went to see Arctic Monkeys first, but lost interest after 3 songs. So I went to De Eneste To and despite not having the best songs in the world they put a great performance.

Autopsy - 4/6
As opposed to Saturnus I was quite impressed with the growling drummer. Good communication with the audience too.

Spids Nøgenhat - 6/6
The show of year. Walked into the tent just because it was the only rock on the program after Autopsy and was blown away immidiately. Killer version of Langebro and an ending that will become legendary with people singing "er vi de sidste her på jorden" for maybe 10-15 minutes after the set finished.

Bad Religion - 4/6
Typical sunday afternoon thing. I was tired as hell and they could really fire me up but an okay show.

My Chemical Romance - 4/6
Had planned to see the Walkmen but had to leave after a few songs (of an apperantly nice concert) because they got way to laid back for the tired me. MCR was okay. Good energy, but too many of the new songs as far as I could tell.

Graveyard - 5/6
Had really looked forward to this show and they didn't dissapoint. Great sound and great vocals. Didn't get a word he was saying in swedish though...

Kings of Leon - 4/6
Very slow start, good middle, great ending. Was standing under the trees, depending very much on the big screens and was quite annouyed with their artistic video filming, especially the first 30-40 minutes.

Beside these shows I watched bits of Parkway Drive (great 20 minutes), Eyehategod, The Raveonettes, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Swans, Ghost (actually the whole thing, but in a very drunk unfocused way from the Øko bar), The Strokes, Underøath and the Walkmen.

Anyway, dispite of what with some rigths have been called a weak program, I saw some really good shows, and was really pleased not to spend the entire weekend in front of the Orange stage.

I think Roskilde needs to figure out what to do with the Orange stage. My suggestion is only to put bands on that can really pull if off. Even if it means 1-2 concerts there per day. I'm sure bands like Mastodon, Raveonettes, Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance, M.I.A would have played better shows at Arena only playing for those who cared, and those people and the bands deserve that better experience.

Tame Impala **** - I was really stoned so to me it was a lot of nice sounds icon_smile.gif

Foals ***** - in the front pit up front in the middle - these guys ROCKED!!! and damn they're impressive mussicians as well

PJ Harvey - saw the first 20-30 minutes of it, and it was REALLY GOOD - but had a date at chase & Status

Chase & Status **** - PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRTTYYY!!! - but the crowd was a bit scaring

The Raveonettes **** - I love them, they played good, Sune was for once open to the crowd... but strobe ligths just don't do as well at six o' clock

Destroyer ****** - Once again stoned - but they were fantastic!!!!

Magnetic Man - the show ** - I came to hear dubstep and then this girl starts an hour long pop concert in the middle - so I went over to the last part of Portishead and they were good

M.I.A. ****** - WOOOOUW!!! this is one of those concerts you love Roskilde for booking - I was expecting a regular concert, where I would be able to sing-a-long on maybe five of her hits (maybe less) instead I got a show with a red line all the way through and which had amazing visuals and lights - and then these wonderful dancehall rythms made everybody dance around me.

OFWGKTA ****** - I was blown away - it was fun, it was intense, it was anarchistic - RESPECT!

Tv on the Radio ***** - it was a perfect setlist, with the slower and more beautiful songs in the beginning ending with the punky party... but they weren't quite there in the start.

James Blake **** - It was good - and I was also the only one in my camp who wasn't in love with him afterwards - but daaaamn and intense bass under "there's a limit to your love" - also we had to flee during the thunderstorm... friggin' christ James Blake is scary music, when everybody is running!!

The Strokes ****** - Concert of the year for me!!! the mood, the songs, the appearance of the sky - it was beautiful <3

Deadmau5 ***** - Why the hell does the press hate this concert?! - it was fucking fun, and EVERYBODY DANCED!!! (and because we have three electronic danceable names on the programme it doesn't make Roskilde Sunny Beach!)

Big Boi **** - I was tired and I thought it started out with a bad sound, but he rapped the soundtrack of my early teenage years and they were good entertainers icon_smile.gif

...It has been my musically best Roskilde Experience, so far!

IRON MAIDEN 5/6
This were one of the best concerts, really good stage acting, great music, and just overall badass!

Zun Zun Egui 3/6
this were absolutely incredibly freaking weird, not my taste of music, but not bad at all
i missed a bit of stage acting though.

Beatsteaks 4/6
Not bad, not bad at all.
quite good music and great stage acting!

Mastodon 3/6
well, i always loved mastodon.
but their live acting is very dull, and i thought that the song setlist begun to sound monotonus after half and hour.
i still liked the music though.

Portishead 4/6
the music were good, i never heard of them before though.
but the stage acting were a bit dull, the singer just stood in the same spot most of the time.

Kaizers Orchestra 4/6
What did i just watch again?
the music were incredibly weird, but it sounded pretty good.
decent stage acting, but i wanted to see more enthusiasm from the singer though.

SoilWork 5/6
this were aboslutely great!
i loved it!
both the music and the stage acting!

Arctic Monkeys 4/6
i didnt stay for long, but it were pretty good.

The strokes 4/6
i were listening to the strokes while i were sitting in line for Deadmau5, they didnt seem too bad. only heard the music though.

Deadmau5 6/6
While i know there have been a lot of skepticism about Deadmau5, then i think people didnt know what they went into. but i knew exactly what i went to see.
i really loved it, it were a incredible light show, Party in the pits (i stood front pit at the fence! o/) i personally think that it were worth waiting 5 hours in a line through the rain just in order to be in the front of the pit.
Possibly the best concert in my opinion at roskilde.

Bring me the Horizon 6/6
This were a blast!
the music were great, the stage acting were top class!
oliver sykes really interacted with the crowd in such ways as encouraging shufflepits, moshpits and walls of death.
but thats not enough! he even pulled a random person from the crowd up to sing, this is something you rarely see a band do!
and around the end when jona climbed one of the support pillars and played guitar in 8-10meters height, it really got the crowd go wild!

Kings of leon 5/6
i arrived pretty late at the concert, so me and my friends had to sit waaaaaay back (almost at the end of the air-slide thingy) but we got a spot so we could see the screens, and i really enjoyed sitting beeing hyperactive with my friends while reading Orangepress and drinking beer!

Iron Maiden 4/6
a big dissapointment for me. the band i looked forward the most.
many new songs didn't work live. there was no connection to the audience at all.
i tried my very best. to the beginning i was in the back, then walked (was no problem)
to the middle and later i jumped over the little fence and was in the very front...
and no this concert was a lot worse than 2000 and 2003!

Chase and Status 6/6
So i moved from iron maiden to chase and status. what the hell! a small letter band playing at the same time like iron maiden AND pj harvey and the cosmopol was overcrowded!!! great party great energy. due the intermission i got into the tent. next time arena!!

Beatsteakes 5/6
great concert at a very early slot. only 5 'cause the best two songs were performed by the guitarist.

Magnetic Man 4/6
Saw ca. 1 1/2 hour. good concert

Yelle 6/6
OMG. overcrowded odeon in fact of the heavy rain. even if it's pop music ther was so much energy and party.

Strokes 5/6
one of the best concerts i've ever seen at orange !!!

Bad Religion 3/6
some older nice men at a sunny sunday. fitted to sit at the ground and drink some beer!

Iron Maiden 5/6

As always. Maiden was on fire. Great setlist and the new tunes worked fantastic! It's The Final Frontier tour - what do you guys expect other than many tunes from that record, when it's an albumtour and only with a single exclusive festivalgig? Bruce is the greatest frontman. The only minus on this concert was, once again, the fucking shape of the orange stage which ment that Maiden couldn't fit in all their stuff. icon_frown.gif

Electric Wizard 4/6

What a fantastic addition. Much better than Dååth (IMO). Nice doom, very slow and heavy but also a bit monotonous sadly. But a great way to wake up!

Parkway Drive 4/6

Great liveband. Rocking the guitar in a wheelchair is just badass and it sure made my Parkway Drive concert. Loads of energi from the band but I guess they will never play Roskilde again after repeatedly asking for crowdsurfing.

Eyehategod 4/6

Heavy sludge. Way to go! Nice headbanging and a stoned singer icon_biggrin.gif

Mastodon 6/6

Fucking apeshit!! Mastodon was the biggest surprise to me. One of the greatest and clearest sounds I've ever heard on the orange stage. Heavy as fuck. You could see that they took the status as a headliner seriously and walked much more around on the stage than what they usualy do. I couldn't care less with the minimum of the audience. Their music could easily fill the orange stage and that is the most important to me, than some wankers who doesn't know what great music Mastodon is making and therefore missed it.. I had a great time (the best on the festival)
And I hope Mastodon soon will headline once again!

Ghost 5/6

Just what I had hoped for. Theatrical, doomy and shitloads of fun at the same time. But also great sin-a-long tunes which I miss in todays metal. The only minus was that the band only has released one record and therefore couldn't play more than 50 min. :/

more to come...

Hyped beyond reason by RF, the festival press and all but the reality is that just because your are from New Zealand and play some weird stuff (at times) doesn't mean you are the next big thing. They really are not! There are a lot of bands who does the same thing, and does it a lot better!

Sorry to correct you, but they're from Australia icon_wink.gif
Living in Australia, I know a lot of people who've seen them live. And they agree with you. Just to clarify that I didn't see them and aren't trying to protect them icon_razz.gif

Iron maiden. 5/6
I feel they are one of very few metal band who can poul of a great show at the orange stage.

Mastodon 2/6
I love this band, and have seen 2 shows with them before. but it did not work at the orange stage. too big a stage for them. they did not fill it by far, and the people, even in the second pit where just standing around, doing nothing. to bad.

Ghost 5/6
Best show I saw this year. by far!!! loved it.

M.I.A 1/6
The sound was terrible, and the pistol fireing of all the time. just saw the second part tough. may be one of the worst shows I have seen at orange, ever.

Kaizers Orchestra 3/6
Love the band, hade a great time, but the show wasn't all that good. too little band and to big a stage. would be a 6/6 playing the arena.

Bad religion 4/6
Good, not great, but nice to see them again.

Kings of leon 5/6
I dont like this band at all, but they owned the orange stage. havent seen the orange stage so on fire for alot of years.

That was all I saw this year. usually I see like 25 shows. but this year wasent for me. better luck next year to me. walked from show to show alot. listning to one or 2 songs. dident found anything I liked really. usually do.

The Eclectic Moniker: **** (Pavilion Jr.)
Unfortunately, I did not get to see it all, as the rest of my group didn't seem to think it was that great, so we left about halfways through the concert - Still great, though!

Reptile and Retard: ***** (Pavilion Jr.)
Incredible energy! Those guys simply just got the whole of Pavilion Jr. rocking.

4 Guys From The Future ** (Pavilion Jr.)
Just boring - two stars for the sound

Who Knew: **** (Pavilion Jr.)
Really got me rocking - too bad they didnt manage to reach everyone in the tent...

Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children **** (Pavilion Jr.)
Loved it! One of the best chill-out experiences i had this year. Her material got a bit boring at times though

Brother Grimm *** (Pavilion Jr.)
Really looked forward to this, but it was a bit disappointing - best moment was, when he invited Pato Siebenhaar on stage with him

Veto **** (Orange)
Had a bad spot in the very side of the stage - but their sound really seemed to fit in really well on that big a stage!

Iron Maiden ****** (Orange)
My first Maiden-experience - surpisingly, I ended up in the back of the pit, and I was just blown away! Speechless!

Electric Wizard ** (Pavilion)
Got dragged with to this by one of my friends, but the sound was just bad, and it isnt my kind of music, really..

Parkway Drive **** (Odeon)
Stood outside of the tent, but it was clear, that they hard quite a hard-rocking show going on in there. Even reached those, who stood outside in the mud!

The Raveonettes * (Orange)
Bad sound ruined this one...

Matthew Dear *** (Cosmopol)
Bit too anonymous - Left after a short while, but wanted to stay

Mastodon *** (Orange)
Ended up in the front pit for this one, even though I didn't really wanted to see them. Not my kind of music, but it was quite an experience standing in the very front of Orange Stage, only a foot away from the circlepits icon_biggrin.gif

Magnetic Man *** (Arena)
Heard that the music got better after I left, but it was a bit of a partykiller having Katy B during an hour long show, when you expected heavy dubstep

Portishead ***** (Orange)
Did not know them at all, before getting past there on my way back from the Magnetic Man-show. Got caught by their heavy sound, and their show made me a huge fan of trip-hop!

M.I.A. *** (Orange)
Quite a show, lots of effects, but I was hoping for something else. Highlight was when she played "Paper Planes" and everyones fingers were in the air doing gunshots

Per Vers **** (Cosmopol)
Got up to late to see it all, and I ended up standing outside the tent, without being able to se a thing - but he still rocked!

Hymns From Nineveh *** (Odeon)
Love their music, but they didn't really get me this time.

Love Shop **** (Arena)
Perhaps I am not the biggest fan of this one, but were somehow impressed of the band - They played really well, and Jens Unmack surely gave it his best

Kaizers Orchestra **** (Orange)
I just love these guys - sadly I did not get to have a good spot to stand.

Surfer Blood * (Odeon)
Got dragged to this - but they were just boring, and kept babbling about something with them being in jail, which no-one seemed to fully understand. Left halfways.

Bad Religion *** (Orange)
A bit uninteresting, but still seemed to have something going on up there.

Janelle Monáe ****** (Cosmopol)
Really looked forward to this, and surely she did not disappoint! Incredible voice, incredible talent, and she even got the whole tent to sit down and jump up!

Kings of Leon ** (Orange)
Like their music, but they are really boring to look at. I could as well just have put on a CD, 'cause all they did were just standing their playing! Boring!

De Høje Hæle 4/6

1349 4/6 - Great way to open the festival !

Iron Maiden 5/6 the legends at work, i enjoyed every minute of that concert.

Soilwork 3/6 Didn't really know Soilwork that much, but the concert was full of energy.

OFWGKTA 1/6 not really my thing, was only there because of the hype about the crowd going crazy, but after about 30 minutes i got bored and left.

Arctic Monkeys 5/6 Loved this concert, simply, and perfect timing with the weather.

The Strokes 4/6 Fine performance i guess, went up and saw them even though i didn't know a single song by them..

Bring me the Horizon 5/6 BEST EARLY CONCERT EVER! gives a whole new meaning to morning exercise!

Tarrus Riley 5/6 coming straight from Bmth it was quite a change in genres. But it was great and they didn't disappoint me!

PULLED APART BY HORSES 6/6 Without a doubt the most incredible energy in the crowd, and from the band.. At one point i think the only member on the stage was the drummer, all the others were in the crowd or throwing up xD NICE CONCERT!

Justin Townes Earle 5/6 Not much to add here icon_wink.gif

Iron Maiden - 4/6 I love this band and I've seen them 6 times, but it's the same thing every time, nothing spontanious, as you might believe it is, if you see them the first time. Even the speech between the songs is the same every concert. The reason I give it 4 is that I think the crowd at festivals isn't that great, compared to the hardcore fans that goes to their concert. At festivals there's just a bunch of guys whining cause they didn't play Run to the Hills.

Mastodon - 2/6 For me, this was just plain boring. And I love progressive metal. I've seen the two times before, never liked their show but gave them a last chance.

The Strokes - 6/6 Best concert of the year. I saw them three months earlier in California, it was good, but compared to this it was boring. The setlist was better, the crowd was better, Julian was better, I loved every second. Even my friend who hates the strokes had lots of fun! Funny that they got such bad reviews at Hove!

Kaizers Orchestra - 3/6 I think these guys are good at making a show, just felt that the crowd wasn't that much into it, even though the band tried hard. Not really my taste either.
