we can only assume Bjork will cancel, as that Balaton Sound festival is the week after Roskilde, and Primavera is at the beginning of June. It looks likely she won't play.

A lot of female vocalists are available this summer, even though this is very sad news, as she was one of my four must-sees.

Possible replacements could be Sinead O'Connor, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Feist or Florence + The Machine. Nothing in the same league of Björk, but there are some ok possibilities out there.

These and Lana Del Rey should do it!

Can have differnt act. In 2004 Bowie cancel his show at Roskilde and instead for David Bowie was Slipnkot. But hope not for Lana Del Rey

The difference is that Bowie cancelled just few days before, which meant Roskidle had to act fast to get a replacement. Roskilde has plenty of time this time around to find something in the same vein as Björk, and as I mentioned, there's a lot of opportunities out there. On the bright side, if they do go with Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Regina Spektor, Feist or Fiona Apple as her replacement, that replacement won't be as expensive as Björk must've been, meaning there's room for another headliner that's something entirely different. Bad news for you if I know your taste as well as I think, it will probably be an electronic headliner, as this seems to be missing this time around, and there's a couple of opportunities in that genre.

Last year cancel Rob Zombie his show at Roskilde and instead Roskilde book My Chemical Romance cam instead and Rob Zombie and My Chemical Romance are two differnt acts. I think we will get something else instead for Björk

But the doctor said she only had to rest her voice. Maybe that just means she can't play 5 days in a week? I don't know, I was just really looking forward to this.. can't believe this..

Well this site should be pretty reliable, and they say she cancelled.
Hoping for something like Crystals Castles and Beach House to replace her, if the replacement should be with a female vocalist. And i think both of them have a hole in their tour at that point.
And Beach House are going to release their new album in a week, so they are an obvious choice.
oh.. Beach House are touring in the US, so maybe it will be a bit difficult..

Beach House are in the US the entire duration of Roskilde Not quite headline material either.

PS I'm gonna see them play a small club next week. icon_wink.gif

Hadn't really thought about that. Well, that leaves quite a big job for the booking people to do.
Good luck guys.

Will probably be hard for Roskilde to book a name of the same size without paying a good amount of extra bucks... 1½ month isn't a long time when it comes to booking a festival headliner.

But then again, this is something they know can happen each year, so maybe they already have some other options ready?

At the pressconference Rikke Øxner said that there wasn't room for Red Hot Chili Peppers this year. That would mean that they're available but not an interest for Roskilde, maybe due to scheduling conflicts.. She didn't say anything about them never playing again after their 2007-concert. When asked about regretable headliners a year ago, she also didn't mention them, even though she said that Guns N Roses was regretable. Guess RHCP a possibility now. Their schedule says they're free on the 8th, the day Björk should have played. I know a lot of people hate them now because of a this very bad concert but I saw them in Stockholm in October and they were absolutely fantastic. Josh Klinghoffer must have kicked their ass or something..

Or they COULD just move Bruce Springsteen so that he could close this year but then I guess a lot of Saturdayticket-buyers would lose their mind! ..And Roskilde would be filled with very old people..

Still rooting for Björk not cancelling!!

The last three years we have gotten Faith No More, Prince and Portishead very close to the festival. Apparantly they had had a very long dialogue with Prince, so maybe not that last-minute. But Faith No More expanded their tour very late so that they could play Roskilde 2009. Good shit happens

This is a really bad cancellation. I would have liked to see her and a friend of mine had on my guiding bought a ticket for sunday just to see Bjørk.

I think you are grasping at straws here. If Rikke says there wasn't room for RHCP one way or the other it sounds extremely unlikely tht they will play. Moving Bruce also sounds very unlikely.

But they should now get the money for a new big headliner, besides that I already expected them to be looking for their eight headliner.
Even if some people like her cancellation, she was one of the top3 artists at Roskilde and replacing her with any of the names mentioned here would devalue the festival to only have two big names.
Maybe Florence and the machine could replace Bjørk, but then there should also be announced a big headliner as well.

Something good would be Björk icon_wink.gif Just naming **** as a possibility. Saw **** last year and that's enough for now. Wouldn't mind **** as I still think they're great, but names such as Kiss or Manowar are higher up on my list of wishes

There's only one (or two ways) to make this up.... Tool, RATM or anything in that league, just some of the great weirdos.. maybe Pearl Jam.
Roskilde should try to get one of the bands everyone has been asking for to replace Björk..

Radiohead is possibility again I guess. We thought they wouldn't play because they would have too many days in a row and because The Cure and Björk had the only available spots. Seems like a spot could be open now..

What can I say... Gutted for the fans.. would have been gutted 5-10 years ago.. today, not so much.. Almost excited to see who turns up instead.. might be a bit corny this next bit, but its my experience that Roskilde fans are some of the most adebt people, when it comes to turning bad news into good... 04 and 07 was nothing but smiles...it rained for 7 days straight!!

True.. my bad.. just saw the poster for 07... justice in the small print.. its been a while, I guees I am excused for not remembering everything perfectlyicon_cool.gif

To all you Björk fans out there, I am truly sorry!
Lets hope that they book f.eks. Florence+the machine to make up for it... they are always great..

I personally hope they book some crazy ass great rock n roll band for the rest of the money, (something along the lines of EODM- just someone not playing Northside) that way, to me, we have a win/win..

(Does anyone know what Electric Six are doing this summer?) Never mind, they are coming to UK in December...

Still in the rock genre. Roskilde will ALWAYS try to book something similar to the artist that cancelled when possible. This makes sense as the program they originally made was to please everybody. And with the mentioned artists as a possibility, it shouldn't be hard to book something similiar to Björk.

Look we are talking, Polar price level of act to be replaced here, and the sunday evening closing spot. This better be good what ever they do. I havent checked Paul Simon or Laughing lenny cohen schedules, but that what I would be hoping for.
