  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Moshing at Roskilde (Slipknot / Orange Stage)

Hey there!

Because of the barriers and the separated areas in front of the stage it´s important to make a good decision if you want to have fun in the moshpit. I am just curious, which is by trend the best area to choose and which are to avoid? Probably the 2 nearest left/right to the stage will be the ones with the most crowd reactions but I would love to get feedback from experienced Roskilde festival veterans, maybe someone who cares about this matter as well.

Is it possible to switch between the areas or do you have to re-enter a queue?

Thank you.

I remember at Slipknot in '09 there were a few small mosh pits in the pits. Actually can't remember if I was in the front or back pit though.. Think I started off in the front pit and then moved back. That was when I saw most pits, I believe.

I've never tried switching between the two pits, but you will have to leave the pit and then make your way around the crowd to try to enter on the other side. If the pits are full they don't let more people in, so in that case it wouldn't be possible to get in on the other side, and you wouldn't be able to get back to where you were in the first place. I've never noticed any difference in the atmosphere between the two pits either, so I wouldn't bother trying to change.

Thanks for getting back to me! Good to know that switching isn´t really possible.

My question was not speficially about the difference of the 2 front pits left/right but about the difference of the 2 front pits and the other sections. I don´t know how many there are exactly but I assume it´s 5 all together? 2 front /left right, 2 middle left/right and the big mass behind united, right?

Oh, ok! Yeah, that's right, there are two main pits, one left and one right, and these are semi-divided into a front part and a back part. You can see very easily on this pic:

My favourite place is probably at the front of the back-pit as far towards the middle as I can get. I guess maybe this best atmosphere is in the front pits, but I find both the sound and view to be better a little further back. And like I said, there is no big difference between left and right. I'm not completely sure where it's best for moshing.. I can only remember moshing at Slipknot '09 and Slayer '07, but the mosh pits weren't huge. Both times I was in the back pit.

Allright, I see. I will probably choose the back section than. How much in advance do you usually have to show up at the entrance gate of the chosen section for a band like Slipknot to enter the front section and how long advance for the back section? Like 30minutes up to 1 hour or do you have to wait bascially the whole afternoon?

Thanks again for your advice

I've been in some great moshpits at Roskilde, and im pretty sure those have alway been in the front pits. So if you want to mosh i would definately start up there. You can always move from the front to the back pit during the concert if you want to. Getting from the back to the front will be hard i think

Perfect, in this case I will pick one of the front pits.

Do you think that 1 hour before the concert is enough time in order to get access to one of the front pits or is it neccessary to show up earlier?

Thanks again!
