Quick guide for the search

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

think this post might belong here.
starting a spotify playlist with the bands so far.
made it "collaborative" so I guess anyone can add to the list?
Just added what for me is the "hit" or defining song for the band.
Please add more "typical" songs for the bands.
almost forgot the link:

five top rated doesn't always show what the band "is about". very often you'll get the one great hit + 4 first / most popular songs on the new album, when a more "representative" list of the band might not be just the new stuff.

let's take a very accessible band like green day as an example.

This is their spotify top 5 as of today:
1. basket case (dookie - 1994)
2. 21 guns (21st century breakdown - 2009)
3. wake me up when september ends (american idiot - 2004)
4. american idiot (american idiot - 2004)
5. oh love (uno - new album released this fall)

A (fairly) objective view the top 5 list should probably contain these:
1. basket case - biggest hit (dookie - 1994)
2. good riddance (time of your life) - second biggest hit (nimrod - 1997)
3. american idiot - their huge comeback as a major band(american idiot - 2004)
4. minority (warning - 2000)
5. 21 guns (21st century breakdown - 2009)

If I would make a list of what i concider their top 5 songs:
1. Only Of You (1039 / Smoothed out slappy hours)
2. Basketcase (dookie - 1994)
3. Disappearing boy (1039 / Smoothed out slappy hours)
4. St Jimmy (american idiot - 2004)
5. Brat (Insomniac - 1995)

If I was getting into a band I didn't know much about, I'd rather see what was their major milestones and top songs through the carreer rather than what was the most popular right now.
