Quick guide for the search
X

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

I was trying to view people's profile and/or my own in the forum posts and it does not seem like they are accessable anymore. When did this change or do I need to use a different browser.

So we can't look at anyone's profile anymore? Why is that? Some people are not on Facebook, so their profile here are the only way to contact them.

It's a bug and one that will probably never get fixed. Basically it boils down to a part of the logins being wired up to people's facebook accounts instead of being their own entities. It wouldn't be much code work to fix it, but the festival has stated, somewhat annoyingly, that the forum doesn't get high, or rather any priority at all. The forum is probably even completely gone in the next version of the website, which I believe they are planning at the moment.

Best case scenario in the future would be a separate forum on a server on its own instead of the current solution which is a bit of a kludge with heaps of bugs and unpredictable side effects.

Then why didn't they do this already? I remember the older forum having everyone separate profiles and you could email them directly to their private emails if they listed it. Also not everyone wants to link their Facebook to forums or websites such as this. It is too much information to be throwing around casually.
