Quick guide for the search

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Smartphones at concerts

Hi all,

Guess you can all relate to the developing trend of concert goers that need to film close to 50% of a concert with their smartphone raised above their heads, as if it was the most important video in the world that you would NEVER want to miss.

We don't see it that much at the RF (praise the lord)but in Forum,Tap 1 etc, its a bloody nightmare if you go to a drake/weekend/lil wayne/frank ocean concert, basically any concert that attract people (especially teens, no hate but its a fact) with this "i need to record everything and then watch it when i go home-mentality".

I see this as an issue since it disturbs the general perception of a concert when someone is blocking your view because they need to record .. And we do see it more often now that 3/4 of RF goers have smartphones

It is already considered illegal to record but shouldn't the festival put some more focus on this ? What is your opinion?

Please stop filming concerts, enjoy them instead!

Honnestly I find it way less disturbing than having people smoking just next to you, especially when it's not only tabac, or people that are so wasted then can't even stand and keep bumping into you, or people that dance just like there is place for 10 around then and keep hiting you with their shoes/arms/elbow/whatever, or people that can't control their glasses of beer and feel like you need some on your head as well... icon_mad.gif that is what is typically preventing me from enjoying a concert 100%. But if there has to be room for everybody, then I can't see why people taking pictures or filming with their new modern toy should be stigmatised.

Ps : and no, I neither take film or pictures during concerts, I care too much about my cellphone for it not to get destroyed at RF icon_wink.gif

There are three things that annoy me immensely at concerts. One of them is people recording everything in shitty quality with their phones. Why does the world need several thousand videos of the same concert in a quality that would make you question if the sound was indeed picked up by a toaster?
Then you have the people pushing all the way to the front in the middle of the concert. Or their opposites who have apparently waited up front for the concert to start only to push all the way out after one or two songs.
People making chit chat annoy me endlessly as well.

When I see all the mobiles recording the concerts it allways reminds me of this clip:

This guy's videos are watchable and enjoyed some of them for parts of the concerts I missed.

But he must have seen most of the concerts through the camera icon_smile.gif

I love people that dance like there is room for ten and bring the energy up, the guy that is too drunk but is also super nice, those that get high and just want to hug everyone... if you ask me, the absolute worst kind of concert person is the one that complains or is giving other people dirty looks. It is a concert, and part of the concert is the diversity of how people experience the concert.

And if they want to hold a little machine over their heads, because they are afraid they will forget that moment, and they want to record it from their unique perspective, then fine.

That guy's a dick as well.
I went to the Titus Andronicus concert back in 2010 and was stood all the way up front. People were going crazy, as you do, but this one guy right behind me decided to go to the front only to stand completely still and push those getting to close to him.

Hahaha... in a Black Keys concert, a girl was way to drunk/high, and kept pushing this other girl with a gigantic boyfriend. The giant, then instead of talking to the drunk girl, grabs the guy she is with by the neck with one hand and tells him "control your woman"... hahahah... it was hilarious in so many levels. Moral of the story, if you are right up front, annoy dicks, it will be funny for everyone.

I still think it's a bit sad that people decide and behave like they have more rights to enjoy a concert then some others, but maybe that's just me icon_wink.gif (if only everyone could respect everybody at a concert, but doesn't seems to go that way icon_cry.gif)

I always thought that if you don´t remember a concert without filming it on your phone it´s not worth remembering. It doesn´t bother much me except for the fact that the person on the iphone would have much better experience with only empty hands in the air.
