Quick guide for the search

  • Wildcard-Search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
  • Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
  • Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.

Are you sure about the dates, seems a bit short for a tour. And the actual RF starts from 4th July.

The National was just added as a 'strong rumor' for Glastonbury on efestivals

The National is a type of band that's missing in the line-up right now so it would be a great addition. But I don't think it will happen i'm afraid. They have been to Roskilde after both their last 2 albums in 2007 and 2010. That's one thing and the other is that they seem to go back to the States after 2 july. I hope i'm wrong though.

I wouldn't mind having them back this year. I thought the show they played last time around was really good.

Oh, and they have a holiday home up in Tisvilde so we can surely persuade them into staying in Europe a while longer.

It would be great, with new album...they're becoming huge. It's the only problem. After playing in Odeon (2007) and Arena (2010), both of them full of capacity....they deserve Orange.. and Orange has not a lot of slots in the 4 days....

Let's see...

Arena wasn't full at The National's latest Roskilde gig. There was plenty of space in the rightmost part of the tent. If they are to play that tent again, it would just require a headliner taking the Orange stage at the same time to balance out the crowd pressure.

New tour dates and album information announced - hopefully they'll have time to visit Roskilde, as they're in Croatia on the second of July and have no further concerts until the 14th in said month (this concert being transatlantic).

If they play Thursday it will only require them to stay 2 more days in Europe and then they have 10 days to get to Cincinatti, Ohio.

There is usually always a strong Arena band on Thursday and as Coldblooded says it will require a huge Orange band at the same time and i bring you Slipknot. icon_biggrin.gif

The 6 years i have been at Roskilde we have seen Wiz Khalifa/Janelle Monaé, PJ Harvey, Paramore, Social Distortion/Mew, Duffy, Arcade Fire/John Legend and in 2006 Sigur Rós on Thursday evening.

Right now there is Animal Collective (confirmed) and When Saints Go Machine (my guess) on Arena that day and if The National is also booked (and performs at Arena) it will be the strongest Arena Thursday line up since 2005 with Flogging Molly, Sonic Youth and Mastodon.

Would be the best possible announcement they could make.

Not sure they will be an Arena band, they have become really big, maybe a bit too big for Arena.

I don´t think that The National are that big so they could fill out the Orange Stage, It could be that Arena with a capacity of around 20.000 people are to small but they have to draw 40-50.000 people to fill the space infront of the Orange Stage.

I think that they are in the same category as Bon Iver and they played Arena (against the Boss but still)

A shit load of bands don't fill up the Orange stage. The natural next step for The National is Orange. But I don't think they'll be booked either. Maybe after their next album release in 3 years time.

I said infront not the whole space.

The Capacity is listed as 60.000 but whe have seen with prince and Bruce that it can hold up to 90.000.

Yes there have been some names like Petter and Ulf Lundell that hasn´t even filling up the pits.

But the place do actually looks filled up when there are "only" around 40.000, thee are plenty of room to move around in the back but you don´t see that on the tv coverage.

Just marvelous! Hopefully they won't clash with anything else I want to see.

Hopefully.
But on the other hand: I can't think of a lot of bands which I would prefer. So even a clash is worth this booking.
