Anniversary of the wristband

Did you happen to know that you are wearing a unique aluminium gadget around your wrist? The clip which keeps your festival wristband together, celebrates its 25 th. anniversary this year.

The gadget that ties your festival wristband together is nothing less than exceptional. The inventor of the gadget is Steen Marcussen, and he is proud to celebrate the anniversary.

"Before this invention, people could easily fool the guards and enter the festival with the wristbands. They could without problems remove the thing which ties the wristband together and throw it over the fence to the guests who wanted to trick their way to the festival," Steen Marcussen, the manager of Scanmarc, the company that introduced the ground-breaking gadget.

"It is unique because it is not possible to force it open", Steen Marcussen says.

"When entering the festival the clip will be fixed, which means that guests are not able to cheat their way in."

The thing has the shape of a ring and is made from aluminium. When the festival goers get the band fastened around their arm, the ring is squeezed so tightly that it is impossible for the guests to remove it. That is why the small clip is indispensable.

"Around 75,000 people go to the festival this year, so we have to deliver around the same amount of these ring-shaped things," Steen Marcussen says. "But on the occasion of the 25 th. anniversary, we will deliver them for free".

Steen Marcussen loves music, and today he got a free festival wristband, since he just turned 60. He will spend the day with two of his friends, Holger Skovhaug and Jørgen Dinesen, who have also chosen to take advantage of the fact that Sunday means free entrance for anyone over the age of 60.

"We want rock," the three friends say. "But we do like a lot of the good blues also." They have left their wives at home, though one of them was talked into being the designated driver, when they are going home."

We will enjoy the anniversary with some beers and some good food," Steen Marcussen says. "I would rather not brag, but the invention is a stroke of genius."
