Art is to be enjoyed in the moment

In an interconnected creation, colourful art posters decorate all of the walls by V1’s booth by Cosmopol. Like a colourful patchwork quilt which bellows with expression and leaves a confused mass of impressions.

V1 Gallery has invited 21 artists from at home and abroad to contribute posters in relation to the theme: ‘From thought to action’. The task has been addressed very diversely by the artists who amongst others include Huskmitnavn, Tal R and John Kørner.

The 21 different motifs have been printed in 18,000 copies which are being distributed for free to the audience as long as there are more in stock. It is sought after merchandise which is up for grabs. Prior to the festival, Jesper Elg has been contacted by art aficionados and collectors who were willing to pay for the posters but they are reserved for the festival guests.

Jesper Elg and Mikkel Grønnebæk from V1 Gallery were asked whether they were interested in participating in an art project at Roskilde Festival. The gallery, which has a fondness for progressive and urban art, jumped on board and helped to create a colourful environment around Cosmopol. ‘We did not want to imitate the Copenhagen gallery and have framed pieces but rather focus on the great festival premises’ Jesper Elg comments on the design of the open outdoor gallery.

You can also get a say in the creation. At the booth, the audience is invited to go crazy with artistic euphoria and make their own art posters. Regularly, there will be artists to inspire and guide, and every day the best contributions are picked out and hung on the wall upstairs or next to the heavyweights of the business. All together, the contributions from both artists and audience create an organic creation in constant growth which is to be enjoyed in the moment.
All audience members who have a secret dream of being an artist or have something to say, are encouraged to go from thought to action and come over to V1 by Cosmopol and express themselves.
