Camp Pink Flamingo Sexy Laguna Party Beach

Behind the long name hides a Norwegian camp, which is built on a quarter of a ton sand. A six metres long trailer has transported sand, palm trees and champagne to Roskilde.

A huge amount of sand has been transported from Copenhagen to Roskilde in a six metres long trailer. It took an entire day with a wheel barrow to take sand from the trailer to Camp Pink Flamingo Sexy Laguna Party Beach’s resort in Camping West. “We found the sand at a beach outside Copenhagen. It is a quarter of a ton,” says Silje. The sand is neatly spread under the camp.

A bunch of green flowers and palm trees also came with the trailer from Copenhagen. They are planted along the rush mats outside the camp. A little bamboo fence has been weaved around the gazebo. “You can easily have a nice and cosy place at Roskilde,” says Sigrun.

Yet not everything is bought in Denmark. The disco ball that comes along from Norway each year, hangs in the middle of the tent. It hangs with some pink knick-knacks and a framed picture of the Norwegian royal family. “The disco ball is a guiding star for the camp,” Silje explains. At night they put light on it, so it is visible from far away. It invites to a hot beach party every night. And the next day you can get a peaceful awakening in the soft sand.

The champagne is popped. The six Norwegians from Tromsø who have decorated the camp with the most sand at the Festival, provide beach chairs and drinks in the summer heat. “We take care of the other camps,” says Kenneth, “we give them champagne and rub them with sun lotion.” They have already drunk 50 litres champagne and white wine together with all their guests. Primarily as a welcome drink.

Last year, their camp drowned in water. The theme was then a British allotment garden. This year, their theme is perfectly suited to the summer weather. The plans for next year are still secret, but Kenneth reveals that it will be even for extravagant than this year. “We have become an institution, because we are always on the same spot,” Silje smiles, “we have to keep coming back forever.”
