What can you do when you are 17, it is your first time at Roskilde Festival and do not arrive until Tuesday, when many of the camping spaces are packed with pavilions, igloo tents and partying festival goers?

Orange Press meet Laura and Marie at the entrance to camping East and follow them in their search for space for a 2-person tent that Laura's grandmother has given her ”because it is waterproof”.

It was not their intention to arrive as late as today, but that is the way it turned out.

”We know so many people that are already here, so we don’t think it will be a problem finding a space,” Marie says.

The girls get their wristbands and drag their stuff and Ikea bag with camping matresses and sleeping bags behind them towards a raving camping East.

”Fuck, we’ll never find it."

”Fuck, we’ll never find it. I have brought a map, but I already feel totally lost,” says Laura about to give up, while Marie pipes up: ”Ooh nice, hey that’s pretty cool," pointing to a camp.

”We bought our tickets in February and have just been looking forward to the atmosphere, party and music so much,” Marie says with a smile.

Searching for friends

The girls drag their bags, while eagerly looking at all the colourful people with dust up their legs. They will try to find a space in Agora C, where Marie’s childhood friend lives in a camp with her school friends.

On the pathway by the gravel pit, Marie sits down on her bag, almost giving up and says: ”Hey, can’t we just set the tent up here, I don’t feel like dragging the bags anymore.”

They drag on over the bridge to camping West where they wander around for a couple of hours, until they find a little space. A couple of guys willingly help the girls in setting up their tent. Laura and Marie are tired, sweaty and most of all happy.

”It’s so great to be here, and they were so good to us by helping with the tent. It’s so nice to be at Roskilde.”
