Garbage with gratitude

Let your dirty sleeping bag come to its own right after Roskilde Festival. If you donate it to the homeless when you leave, it will be washed and sent off to someone in need.

We are quite like pigs when we are at a festival. In 2007 every single festival guest accumulated approximately 5 kilos of garbage per day. The last four years festival-goers have been able to reduce their gross amounts with a few hundred grams, though.

The festival's environmental group is collecting sleeping bags and sleeping mats again this year for the benefit of the homeless in Copenhagen, and you can donate your used goods at the East and West exits.

The first three years of this project, approximately 10,000 sleeping bags and 1,200 sleeping mats were collected, Roskilde Festival informs. These goods were distributed to homeless people in Copenhagen through the organization "Kofoeds Kaelder"

Rainy 2007 was not a good year for collectors, because the joy of giving drowned with the many tents and sleeping bags but this year the amount collected is expected to increase again. So if you haven't thought about it until now, you can actually do something good for others, while you are at Roskilde Festival, by donating your sleeping bag and/or mat at one of the exits, when you say goodbye to this years festival.
