More than music: the food mission

4 days and more than 30 food stalls. Rebecca Ilsøeis is busy, if she is going to achieve her ambitious goal of visiting every food stall.

When the sun beats down and the thermometer is showing 28 degrees, a lot of people lose their appetite.

This does not apply to festival guest Rebecca Ilsøe.

In the hottest hours of the day, where most guests seek shade and cold water, she sets out with a festival programme, money and an insatiable appetite. And then she is ready to continue her food mission: to visit every food stall at the festival site.

Obsessed with food
“Two hours ago I ate breakfast at the Naturmælk stall, so now I am ready for lunch which will be an all-time classic,” she says as she heads for the spaghetti stall behind the grand stand.

To her, the Roskilde Festival slogan, More than Music, makes a lot of sense. It is as much about the food as it is about the music. This is why she takes her food mission very seriously.

“I plan all the meals of the day and tick the names of the stalls, when I have visited them,” Rebecca explains while showing a festival program, where she has written all over page 43.

Saturday at noon she still had 19 of the 35 stalls to visit, so she is in for a tight schedule. Still she keeps her spirits high.
“I am optimistic and obsessed with food so I'm sure I'll make it,” she says.

Three or four extra kilos
In the legendary spaghetti stall it is boiling hot and there is no more ketchup left. A drawback but no reason for disqualification.

“A round of spaghetti with parmesan, please,” Rebecca says and is quickly handed a filled plate.

“I look forward to this every year,” a hopeful Rebecca recounts, as she digs into the orange serving.

Her expectations are not fully met, though. Something is missing, a slightly dissatisfied Rebecca says. Maybe it is the ketchup. On the other hand, there is a lot of food in the serving.

“I’m really full right now and that is a plus. It has to lie well on the stomach,” Rebecca says after emptying the plate.

However, it does not take many minutes before she looks hungrily towards the meatball stall on the other side of the festival site. This is where she wiil eat her dinner, after an afternoon snack at the Badeklubben stall. Her plans for a late night snack have also been made.

The idea about keeping a slim figure has been put on the shelf for the week.

“I think I might put on an extra three or four kilos during the week, but it’s worth it,” she concludes.
