Senior Citizens at festival

Ulla and Berend Sehestedt have come all the way from Soenderborg to join the festival for the first time, when according to tradition, free entrance on the last day of the festival is offered to participants over the age of 60.

"We have all the preconceived notions, which follow when you haven't been to many festivals", says Ulla Sehestedt who have come to the festival together with her husband Berend Sehestedt.

Ulla Sehestedt admits that they are both festival new comers and look forward to put to rest some of the prejudice they harbour concerning the festival: "We have heard that people here easily give in to drugs and alcohol", says Ulla Sehestedt, "but we didn't want to miss out on the good atmosphere here"

They are sitting in front of Odeon, enjoying the warm weather and a cold drink. "We got the impression that beer is the thing to drink here", they say and smile. "Otherwise we would have taken a glass of red wine, but I guess it's not the thing to do at a festival."

Their daughter-in-law coaxed them into participating and when the ticket is for free, it is difficult to say no."It's a great way to mix different age groups," says Ulla Sehested who, in contrast to her husband, is not particularly interested in music.  Berend Sehestedt is particularly fond of classical music and has chosen to participate because of the great enthusiasm underlying the festival.

When the music starts to flow from the loudspeakers at the Odeon, loud noises do not scare the couple from Soenderborg.

"I'm used to hearing rock where I live, "says Berend Sehestedt who, every now and then has to listen to his neighbours in Soenderborg playing loud rock.

Ulla and Berend Sehestedt can enjoy the day, accompanied by a large amount of 60+ senior citizens, who on Sunday have the option of getting in to the festival for free.
