There is a bashful looking red workmen´s skip at Agora C. But don’t be fooled.

Seven young people from Performance Design at RUC have actually converted the skip to a fully functional sauna with an oven, hot stones and pine bench seating.

We have had a chat with Stinus Duch Andersen about the idea and the great question why.

“Basically, the idea of the sauna was the result of a big chat. The original idea was to create social space and communities in micro-dimension.. The skip has been created in cooperation with Næstved Council, who paid for the skip´s development in exchange for our creating a space around it,” Stinus says.

As a result, they have driven around the Næstved area, out to remote villages and sleepytowns, and have even taken part in a féte in the centre of Næstved where they invited people into their mobile sauna after they had bought their cheese and fish from the other stalls.

Now the skip is at camping area C, ready to warm you up on a cold day.

Stinus is in no doubt that the skip fits naturally into Roskilde festival.

”We attempt to create a space where people can meet, and create contacts. We are inspired by the Finnish sauna culture, where friends and family are invited inside, and thus the community expands resulting in all becoming family and friends.”

Additionally, the sauna with the following cold rinses, aroma oil and massage wheel provides a brilliant alternative, if you are uncomfortable at the cold showers. There is nothing as clean as a newly washed boy who has just sprung out of the sauna.
