mandag 07.09.09 Band of Horses has not forgotten RoskildeIt is not only the audience who have great experiences at Roskilde Festival. Surely, it also happens to the performing artists. Over a year has passed since Band of Horses played for a packed Arena tent. Yet, that particular concert still stands as a central event – even though the bearded heroes have played numerous concerts all over the world in the intervening year. Danish music magazine Gaffa recently interviewed lead singer Ben Bridwell. And Roskilde Festival quickly became the subject matter: The last time I saw you was at Roskilde Festival last year where it looked as if you were having the time of your lives. Was it a special concert for you, or are you always that happy on stage? – It was fantastic! Bridwell bursts out and continues: – It was definitely the best concert I have ever been a part of. There are four-five shows that have been really special in the time that Band of Horses has existed, and the Roskilde concert is definitely number one. It was so electric. There was this curtain in front of the stage, and we could hear the audience clapping and going crazy in wild expectation. We sat behind the curtain and thought, ”holy shit!” and ”what the fuck?!” It was very overwhelming, and from the beginning to the end it was without a doubt the best audience we have ever played for. It was so exceptional, and it's simply impossible to repeat such an experience. | ![]() Band of Horses from Roskilde Festival 2008 - photo: Thomas Kjær |
