Roskilde '09 well-attended

How many people visited the festival in 2009, and where did they come from?

This year's Roskilde Festival was attended by thousands of guests.

An accurate count shows a total attendance by 67,413 all-week guests – and 12,931 one-day guests.

Roskilde '09 was to a high degree visited by Danish festival-goers. 78 % people had bought their ticket in Denmark. 11 % came from Norway, and 8 % came from Sweden. That corresponds to about 5,000 Swedes and 7,000 Norwegians.

Audiences from Germany, Finland and the UK constituted about 1 % from each respective country.

The festival was also visited by 1,170 +60-year-olds on the final Sunday when they could gain admission free of charge.

In total, this makes a festival of about 110,000 people per day for eight days – including volunteers, musicians and accredited media workers.

That number makes Roskilde Festival 2009 the absolutely largest festival in northern Europe.
