Coffin Camp is planning their camp for Roskilde Festival 2013 – and they need your help.
Over the next couple of weeks you can follow Coffin Camp’s preparations for Roskilde Festival 2013 in a mini series on Orange TV. The camp from Oslo has been a returning attraction on the camp site for the last few years. This year, though, they need your help to get from Oslo to Roskilde.

In the first episode you get to meet the members of Coffin Camp, who are building their camp’s trademark; the coffin. They still haven’t figured out how to decorate their camp this year. Watch the first episode and vote for one of the three suggestions as to how Coffin Camp should decorate their camp at this year’s Roskilde Festival. Go to our Facebook to vote.

Facts about Coffin Camp

There's about 10 members in Coffin Camp. Most of them from Norway, but a few Danes have joined the camp as well

They've been at Roskilde Festival since 2006, and are always camping at the same spot in the C area. That is, when they are not touring the campsite with 'The Coffin', spreading party and joy to the around 400 people that usually follows in the coffin's trail

The camp have been fans of the Norwegian band Datarock ever since they saw them at Roskilde Festival 2007. So much in fact, that they can always be seen wearing red Datarock jumpsuits when at the festival

Explore this year's line-up with WiMP and win Roskilde Festival tickets

In collaboration with WiMP, Roskilde Festival has created a Facebook application that lets you explore this year’s line-up with more than 180 acts.
The music connoisseurs at WiMP and the Roskilde Festival bookers have created a music journey that will take you to all corners of this year’s festival line-up.

Open the "Roskilde Music Journey" Facebook app and start your journey by selecting a band from the line-up that you are looking forward to experience. This will generate a handful of other bands from the line-up which in one way or another are related to the selected artist. These related bands have been handpicked by the music bookers and WiMP. You can then listen to these related bands and decide whether you like them or not, and in this way build your own personalized Roskilde Festival 2013 playlist. Every time a band is chosen, new related bands will pop up for you to explore.

Win tickets to Roskilde Festival 2013 and WiMP Premium
By the end of the musical journey you will not only have your very own festival-playlist, but also get a chance to win both Roskilde Festival tickets and WiMP Premium for a year. A new winner is drawn each week for the next four weeks.

Unfortunately we have to change the location for this year’s Get A Tent Downtown and Get A Camp.
Because of a very long and cold winter, the grass has been sown later than expected. Unfortunately this means that the grass won’t be ready for eight days of festival and fun.

Get A Tent Downtown and Get A Camp will therefore be placed in area A which is north of Street City (see map). Both bath and toilet facilities will remain the same as at the original area. The festival-goers who have already bought Get A Tent Downtown or Get A Camp have been notified.

Kris Kristofferson confirmed for Roskilde Festival 2013

The American legend is added to the Roskilde Festival line-up.
Roskilde Festival has a strong tradition of presenting some of the most important pioneers of modern music, and today’s announcement is no exception, as he is one of country music’s most prolific and important artists. “His songs have long since taken their place in music history among the greatest classics, and his latest records show that there is still a lot of musical and creative power left in him. To be given the opportunity to present an artist like Kris Kristofferson to the Roskilde Festival audience is a huge honour. He is one of the last living legends” says Peter Hvalkof.

KRIS KRISTOFFERSON (US) has an impressive catalogue that includes some of country music’s best known songs, and an influence on other musicians that places him among the titans of American music. Armed with nothing more than a guitar, harmonica and plenty of personal grit, the silver-haired multi-artist plays authentic country with a taste of bourbon, Nashville and stories about his own life’s ups and downs. Kris Kristofferson’s latest album, Feeling Mortal, is packed with songs of mortality and hard-earned wisdom, and according to many, the latest work of the former boxer and US Army Captain with the poetic pen is among the best of his career. Get ready to meet one of the greatest at Roskilde Festival.

Chase & Status confirmed for Roskilde Festival 2013

Electronic headliner is joined by Kenton Slash Demon and Om Unit.
Thanks to today’s confirmed acts, we’re not only giving you a proper electronic party on Orange Stage, designed to burn more calories than any normal workout; we’ve also filled the last few empty slots on our Apollo stage. “We can hardly wait for another sweaty rave-performance from a band who also packed the Cosmopol stage in 2011,” says booker Anders Wahrén.

CHASE & STATUS (UK) show us how electronic music can take the energy and high adrenalin levels from punk and metal, and turn it into parties that boil with equal amounts of intensity. In 2013, they’ll be taking on Orange Stage with new music and an even bigger show combining the best parts of drum’n’bass, dubstep, pop and rock in a magnificent collision.

KENTON SLASH DEMON (DK) is the night-clubbing side-project from Jonas Kenton and Silas Moldenhawer from When Saints Go Machine.”Kenton Slash Demon have already proven their worth, so in all fairness we could have booked them sooner than we have. But sometimes you just fall in love with what’s been standing in front of you for a long time,” says booker Claes Roepstorrf, responsible for the electronic acts at Roskilde Festival.

OM UNIT (UK) draws his inspiration from sounds such as dubstep, instrumental hiphop and jungle. Especially the latter, well-known sound of 90’s electronic music was what got producer and dj John Coles going when he was just a teenager and first threw his love on electronic music. Today, his mix of various styles is right up there with those that define the future of London bass music.

Apollo takes over the gravel pit

The electronic Apollo Stage gets a new zone this year.
Roskilde Festival’s electronic music stage, Apollo, will find a new home in 2013. The Apollo Zone is taking over part of the old gravel pit that hasn’t been used for almost ten years. In 2012, the pit was filled, grass was planted, but the area wasn’t ready for the Roskilde audience to make use of it. This year, finally, we are able to use this site. The Apollo Zone is placed to the South of the Pavilion Stage.

A new world

The new zone will not only be an area linking the camping sites to the festival site. With the Apollo Stage as the center piece, the area will be a small universe of electronic music, lights- and art installations that will react and interact with the music. The Apollo Zone will be surrounded by lightning poles that will function as a mirror of light towards the festival-goers and the stage, and you will get the feeling of having stepped into another world – both during the day and during the night.

Electronic Roskilde

Roskilde Festival’s line-up has always focused on new music trends and therefore we also have a stage dedicated to electronic music. From Sunday 30 June upcoming Scandinavian acts will take on the stage while more established acts will perform on the UFO-looking stage from Thursday 4 July till Sunday 7 July in the brand new Apollo Zone.

From stone age food to the local fare of Faxe, in the new Food Court at Roskilde Festival
This year, Roskilde Festival will introduce a Food Court on the inner square. The selection will be substantial and diverse, yet with an intimate feel to the square.

Here you can visit around 19 small market stalls, all serving two distinct dishes in order to create a happening and experimental dining area where you can experience all from traditional Danish family dishes to biodynamic food, paleo (stone age) diet, porridge and local cuisine based on ingredients from Lolland-Falster south of Copenhagen.

You will be able to taste a modern interpretation of signature dishes from the Faxe region – a crispy cabbage wrap, filled with beer braised beef, or steaming hot spring rolls and the Vietnamese national soup Phó from the food stall Crispy Hote. If you’re still undecided, then go for the paleo bolognese from PALÆO-Primal Gastronomy stall.

Go out with a ska-punk and Balkan bang at Arena

Dubioza Kolektiv and Voodoo Glow Skulls close the curtain in style Sunday night with an epic final party at Roskilde Festival 2013.
There’s something very special about Sunday night at Arena. The stage becomes the absolut center of Roskilde Festival, and it’s a party designed for the most dedicated music fans, those eager for one final, big.

Balkan-favorites Dubioza Kolektiv and ska-punkers Voodoo Glow Skulls have been given the honour of sending the last party-loving Roskilde Festival audiences back to reality in a right and proper mannor.

The final party of this year’s festival will be a tornado of political bite and forceful energy, from rebellious Eastern European sounds to hotheaded ska-punk.

”Dubioza Kolektiv are a perfect match to the many energetic Balkan-parties, which Roskilde Festival has come to be known for. Fans of bands such as Gogol Bordello should really save their last bit of energy for Sunday night at Arena,” says booker Peter Hvalkof.

From the Balkans to California in the heat of the night.

After Dubozia Kolektiv’s concert, we move from the ever swarming Eastern Europe to the ska-punk scene of Western California – all in one night.

”Voodoo Glows Skulls are more or less legendary. Their music is unpredictable, and the tempo is extremely high, all while there’s a strong Jamaican groove and a clear sense of melody,” says booker Stefan Gejsing.

It’s Friday night – and spring has arrived

Finally, one last request. It’s Friday night in a few hours, and spring has finally arrived: If you listen to some of this music, we’ll almost guarantee you that the very special Roskilde Festival feeling will wash over you before you know it.

This year the game will change. Does your camp have what it takes to bring home the trophy?
Roskilde Festival is about so much more than what's going on in the festival area. Every year more and more camps enrich the camping area with events, parties, creative themes and love to go around - thus making sure everybody is loaded with that special Orange Feeling when the music starts.

This year Roskilde Festival once again sets out to honour those camps that make the waiting time so special by naming 'Camp of The Year'. This tradition goes back several years – but this year the game will change, as we aim to give the power back to you festies.

Themed Daily Winners
This years Daily Winners will be chosen by themes. Are your camp the greenest? Do you throw the best parties? Are you giving the most to the camping community? Does your camp have the best theme? Are you a camp of early birds that makes sure the party starts from day one? Then your camp have the chance of being named as a Daily Winner.

Each day of the camping period our panel of competent camp experts will visit every camp signed up for the competition. They will then nominate three camps, that will then meet on the field of honour to determine who is the best Party Camp, Early Bird Camp, Sustainability Camp, Theme Camp and Community Camp.

On Saturday all camps that has been nominated as a Daily Winner will meet up and throw their vote as to who of the Daily Winners they think is Roskilde Festival Camp of The Year '13.

Prizes and tickets
The winning camp will not only have pride in the honourable title of ‘Camp of the Year’. They receive a specially designed trophy made from orange canvas from the very first Orange Stage and with the previous winners engraved on it: Where is the Love (2006), Den Svedig Kalkun (2007), Topgun Camp (2008), Camp Find Holger (2009), Camp Crazy Legs (2010 and 2011) and Camp Burt Reynolds (2012). As a bonus, the cup also functions as a beer bong!

On top of this, the prize also includes unique Camp of the Year T-shirts as well as six tickets to Roskilde Festival 2014.

... and Kraftwerk will be the grand finale on Orange Stage

Historic concert in three dimensions
No Roskilde Festival without an unforgettable concert experience just before you go home Sunday night, brought to you this year by none other than Kraftwerk. They’ll be performering their unique and fantastic 3D-show for the first time in such a large outdoor scale on a festival in Northern Europe, so the midsummer sun will set over an Orange Stage looking more vivid than ever. And don’t worry about bringing your own 3D-glasses; Kraftwerk have enough for everyone.

”The final concert on Orange Stage Sunday night has always been a very special experience, a special moment where we all come together for the music, and I think it’s difficult to imagine a more spectacular way of saying goodbye to this year’s festival and all your friends than in the company of Kraftwerk and their very unique show. One thing is the band’s importance to music history which can take the breath away from most everyone; another is the fact that it will most surely be a concert, we’ll still be talking about years from now. I’m certain that Sunday night with Kraftwerk will become a part of Roskilde Festival history,” says Roskilde Festival’s music director Rikke Øxner.

Even though it’s the first time Orange Stage will be turned into a giant 3D screen, she’s not at all worried about the technical challenges that go along with such a show.

”Our own technicians have been in dialogue with Kraftwerk’s technicians since day one, and I know that Kraftwerk wouldn’t be taking their 3D-show on the road to Roskilde if they weren’t completely confident when it comes to all the technicalities,” Rikke Øxner says.

Our opening act is a shining star on the Danish electro-pop scene.
When the gates open the festival site open at 5pm Thursday afternoon on 4 July, it’s going to happen with an extravagant party. Known under his stage name Vinnie Who, Niels Bagge has established himself as Denmark’s finest prince of pop, gracefully disco-dancing through the best moments in pop history.

”It’s crazy! Every time I think of it, my stomache turns. It is without a doubt the biggest challenge, I’m facing as a musician, and a fantastic opportunity to become a part of the Orange Stage legacy. Ever since I was 17, I’ve been diving into the festival’s line-up, and now I’m faced with the biggest experience of them all – and one I’m able to share with more than 70.000 people,” says Vinnie Who about his upcoming job of pushing the Roskilde Festival 2013 start button on the biggest stage of the festival.

Music collective INGRID at Roskilde Festival 2013

INGRID will take on the Orange Stage at this year’s Roskilde Festival with a unique show of the very best tunes from the Swedish music collective.
An impressive sample of Sweden’s most successful pop acts has created the music and label collective INGRID. They will perform a unique show at Roskilde Festival on the Orange Stage, including songs from LYKKE LI, PETER BJORN AND JOHN, MIIKE SNOW, COCO and J. ÅHLUND as well as several special guests from both Sweden and around the world.

Although LYKKE LI, PETER BJORN AND JOHN, MIIKE SNOW, American sidekick COCO and J. ÅHLUND certainly deliver on their own, together they have created a universe allowing new ideas, songs and whims to blossom. For Roskilde Festival they are creating a unique music event, packed with surprises and visual delights. The line-up will take the stage as one large band and treat us with both fresh compositions and well-known hits served in new ways.

Bjorn Yttling from PETER BJORN and John gives a sneak peek into the unique Ingrid show at Roskilde:

“We are sort of just a big group of friends from Stockholm, New York and Los Angeles who did a lot of things together and spent time together at the Ingrid Studios. We got the idea that we wanted to collaborate and do more things together so two years ago we loosely formed this music collective; Ingrid.

Last summer we played a show at Way Out West in Gothenburg called Ingrid Live, which was really cool but our show at Roskilde Festival will be a completely different thing. The show at Roskilde will be bigger and it will be outdoors, but to be honest nobody really knows what will happen. We will play songs separately, we will play songs together and we will bring some of our friends from both Stockholm and around the world to perform with us. Its going to be a big mash-up of all our music and we will play some new songs from the different bands and we will play songs that we have never played before and that we will never play again. For the show at Roskilde we will do things smaller and bigger and weirder all at the same time.”

This array of stellar names has only played two intimate club shows in the past, so they’re heading for a spectacular world premiere in the large format of Roskilde Festival’s Orange Stage this summer. This exciting new collective will only be playing two concerts worldwide in 2013. You will have to wait a bit longer to find out which special guests Ingrid are bringing to their Roskilde show – they are not quite ready to reveal all their secrets yet.

The poster is ready

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, James Blake, Miguel, Suicidal Tendencies, Turbonegro and about 80 other names have joined the line-up.
Roskilde Festival’s 43rd line-up has just seen the light of day. About 85 new artists join the nearly 100 already announced, unveiling a multicoloured music catalogue of countless genres, nationalities and moods.

A variation of headliners
KRAFTWERK, THE NATIONAL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, RIHANNA, SIGUR RÓS, SLIPKNOT and VOLBEAT are at top of the poster. The headliners cover genres such as rock, pop and futuristic electro. However, these artists are just the icing on the cake. Whether you’re a fan of hip hop, metal, alternative rock or world music, you can put together a music feast of your liking – while stumbling upon surprises and musical challenges along your journey.

Rockers with an edge
We introduce a batch of rock artists with more edge to their music than seen or heard on Roskilde Festival for a long time. AIRBOURNE, TURBONEGRO, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB are among the new additions; and all have fresh records out, demonstrating great shape and chops. Along with UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS, KVELERTAK and THE SWORD, these artists secure a festival with plenty of riffs and licks. “This year’s lineup is actually the most rock-orientated in my time as a booker. I strongly sense a blooming of rock these years, and we feature some great exponents of this development on the line-up”, says booker Stefan Gejsing.

… always a surprise
Swedish pop collective INGRID are planning a special Roskilde show, including songs from LYKKE LI, PETER BJORN AND JOHN, MIIKE SNOW, COCO and J. ÅHLUND, who will take the stage with several surprising guests. This array of stellar names has only played two intimate club shows in the past, so they’re heading for a spectacular world premiere in the large format of Roskilde Festival’s Orange Stage this summer. This exciting new collective will only be playing two concerts worldwide in 2013.

Outrageous urban sounds
Future superstar MIGUEL is among the brand new additions to the line-up with his sexy R&B. We can also announce EL-P, KILLER MIKE and flamboyant rapper MYKKI BLANCO, joining KENDRICK LAMAR, DANNY BROWN, JOEY BADA$$, FLATBUSH ZOMBIES and ACTION BRONSON. Roskilde Festival 2013 is mandatory for anyone with even the smallest taste for hip hop. The Nordic countries also boost names such as CHORDS, KARPE DIEM and LINKOBAN.

Sparkling world colours
As always Cosmopol and the other stages will feature world colours unlike any other festival in Scandinavia or Europe: “It’s our world music acts who really push tradition forward. This year features acts from both South Korea, China and Egypt,” says booker of global acts Peter Hvalkof. DAWANGGANG, NUBANOUR, KRAR COLLECTIVE and several other names from foreign skies are now also part of the line-up.

Roskilde is ugly
Roskilde Festival’s alternative rock profile rips, shreds and tears like never before. PISSED JEANS, FIDLAR, ICEAGE, PARQUET COURTS and METZ add more punk edge to a program which also features Sonic Youth legend Thurston Moore’s brand new band CHELSEA LIGHT MOVING.

#futurebeats
We are witnessing a true internet generation taking to the stage. Their music is a total meltdown of genres, styles and eras. Take JAMES BLAKE for instance: He is back at Roskilde, ready to repeat his 2011 triumph. Trap-phenomenon ƱZ is on the poster as well, and another trap icon, BAAUER, was already part of the line-up. Another notorious internet regular is AZEALIA BANKS; her name is on the poster alongside ELOQ, FLUME and several other online idols.

Eager for more? Check out the bands and download the poster here.

Today’s Danish package range from acoustic folk to punky electro.
These additions to the band list all play at Pavilion Junior; the Roskilde Festival stage which focuses on young, Nordic acts.

In the quiet part of the spectrum we find SCHULTZ & FOREVER and KRISTINA RENÉE, who despite a number of differences both play Nordic, acoustic pop based in the singer/songwriter tradition. SO-SO ECHO also play delicious pop, which like the movie Drive is rich with the feel of Los Angeles, wrought with danger and brimming with international format. BROKE departs from the financial crisis and prove that punky electro is best during recessions. Joining the fray from the experimenting part of Copenhagen are TRAVELLING TRIBES, who use the entire palette of world music as departure point for their alternative rock.

Thursday next we give you the poster

Start looking forward to Thursday next where we unveil the poster for this year’s festival. Only half of the line-up has been disclosed so far and the day will be full of music in all imaginable tonalities, moods and genres; a colourful cornucopia brimming with diversity, popular favourites and lots of surprises - in classic Roskilde fashion.

This year's audience T-shirt

The festival-goers have found the winning T-shirt design.
Back in February we encouraged all creative souls to submit a design for a Roskilde Festival T-shirt. This contest resulted in hundreds of designs. We've seen designs that make use of everything from beer bottles, orange coloured worlds and camp site maps.

According to the audience, the winning design has that special orange feeling to it. It is simple, rock n roll and fun at the same time. The design is created by Laura Beate Konrad.

Of course, the winning T-shirt will be for sale in our web shop and you can buy it at the festival this summer as well.

Thanks to everyone who has submitted designs. Many of them were so good that they could easily work on T-shirts. Let this be an encouragement to go print your own T-shirts.

We also add fellow upcoming bands Compadre, Ice Cream Cathedral and Navneløs.
The festival-goers have helped pick out the first two bands for Pavilion Junior of today’s announcements.

Both bands have been booked in connection with Tuborg and Roskilde Festival’s OnStage campaign, in which the festival’s music bookers have received the festival-goers recommendations for upcoming Scandinavian bands.

The festival-goers have recommended 2.467 different bands and almost 7.500 people have taken part in the campaign by giving their arguments as to why their favourite upcoming band should play Roskilde Festival 2013.

More upcoming bands are added to our line-up

URRBAN CONE (SE) and THE WOKEN TREES (DK) have both been booked by Roskilde Festival with the warmest of recommendations from the festival-goers. The two bands range from electronic pop from the Swedes to pitch black post punk from the Danes. COMPADRE (SE) is the second Swedish addition and they mix hip hop, bass pop and Middle Eastern tunes in their self proclaimed ‘Muslim-step’ or ‘Jihad House’. Finally we have two other Danish acts: ICE CREAM CATHEDRAL (DK) play great atmospheric dream pop, while NAVNELØS (DK) explore the genres and incorporate chamber music, alternative rock and much more into their music. An indefinable orchestra from the same origins of Under Byen.

Roskilde Road Trip

Some of today's bands will also play at Roskilde Road Trip.
THE WOKEN TREES (DK) will play in Gothenburg 13 April. COMPADRE (SE) will play in Bergen 20 April and Malmö 18 April. ICE CREAM CATHEDRAL (DK) will play in Hamburg 19 April.

Roskilde Road Trip is Roskilde Festival on the road in Northern Europe, where you can experience one week of free concerts, workshops, art installations and debates.

We're coming to:
Gothenburg (6 - 13 April)
Malmö, Oslo, Bergen (13 - 20 April)
Hamburg (15 - 20 April).

Solid americana added to Roskilde Festival 2013 line-up

Calexico, Frank Fairfield and Jonathan Wilson join our line-up
Even though today’s bands have all been grown from the fertile soil of American roots music, they each approach tradition from their own unique and groundbreaking angle.

CALEXICO (US) have combined country with Mexican mariachi music on their previous border–crossing albums, but on their latest effort, 2012’s Algiers, the two gringos headed for the west bank of the Mississippi in sprawling New Orleans. The result of that trip is a colorful album that most certainly called for the band’s return to Roskilde Festival.

FRANK FAIRFIELD (US) more or less spent his life as a hobo, until he was finally discovered by the right people to see his potential and talent. These days, he’s touring with the Fleet Foxes, and making acclaimed records filled with heartbreak, whisky, inevitable poverty and the ever imminent stock market crash. Frank Fairfield tops his authentic americana with plenty of banjo and fierce fiddlin’.

JONATHAN WILSON (US) plays the kind of country rock where the psychedelic colors and shapes of late 60s California blend together. Yet at the same time, Wilson is so contemporary in his songwriting that fans of modern folk rock should be sure check him out as well. The talented musician and songwriter also enjoys a career as a session player for legends such as Jackson Brown and The Band’s Robbie Robertson.

We announce a group of bands who will kick off this year’s festival.
All of today’s additions will play either Pavilion Junior or Apollo Countdown, the flagships of new Nordic music on Roskilde Festival. These upcoming Nordic bands will play the Pavilion Junior or Apollo Countdown stages during the first four days of the festival, from 30 June till 3 July.

From the heavy end of the spectrum we introduce black metal-hope SOLBRRUD (DK), who like punk band LOWER (DK) and electronica producer REWOLMER (DK) are the shooting stars of the Copenhagen underground. The dark punk will also come from the other side of Oresund by VANLIGT FOLK (SE). Further East we encounter K-X-P (FI) who punk up the sound of mechanic German music of the 70s.

We are also bringing in a bit of Norway. Here we find strong upcoming acts such as BINÄRPILOT (NO) and TORKELSEN (NO), who each have a personal, icy cold grip on electronic music. Their music reaches from console computer game inspired dancing music to more silent melancholia.

With DJ-duo CAPTAIN FUFANU (IS) and melancholic synth pop from SUMMER HEART (SE) we complete our mini trip around the Nordic upcoming scenes.

But we are not stopping here…

We are ready with a lot more music in the near future. We will announce a lot more bands for Pavilion Junior and Apollo Countdown during the coming weeks and on 18 April we announce the complete line-up and this year’s Roskilde Festival poster.

The National (US) arrive at Roskilde Festival with a brand new album, Trouble Will Find Me, in their suitcase – this concert will be the first opportunity in Scandinavia to hear the new songs live.

Previous albums from The National, such as Alligator and Boxer, are already modern classics filled with a wide, romantic appeal to Scandinavian hearts and minds. The last time The National played at Roskilde Festival was in a packed Arena tent in 2010, a convincingly mature band bringing parts of their back catalogue and songs from the, at that time newly released album High Violet, to life in such a way that it practically rained stars from critics, audiences and Roskilde Festival alike.

Orange up the World and win 3 tickets to Roskilde Festival 2013 for your camp
We need to put up our Roskilde posters abroad, and we need your help! But wouldn’t it be too easy just to put up posters? We thought so and decided to make a contest out of it.

Which camp can put up 100 posters in the most creative and innovative way?

It could be anything from posing as one huge human poster to doing a projection on a wall. The only limit is your imagination - and the law, of course!

How to enter

Write up a description of how you and your camp will put up the posters here no later than 8 April 2013. Be creative and innovative. At 12 April we choose the camps with the most fun or alternative ideas for the poster setup, and they will receive 100 posters from us and orange up the World.

How is the winner found?

The poster camps have 12 days to put up posters. We ask all camps to document their work using photos. The final winners are the 10 camps who have managed to find the most funny, creative and alternative ways to put up the Roskilde posters.

Tickets prizes

The 10 winning camps each receive three tickets to Roskilde Festival 2013.

Best of luck to you all!

New bands make the 2013 Roskilde Festival line-up even harder and heavier

Chelsea Light Moving, Nazoranai, The Sword and Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats make up the latest addition to our 2013 line-up
There’s no need to be overly polite here; regardless of whether you like alternative noise rock or classic hard rock, today’s new bands on our 2013 line-up all kick ass.

CHELSEA LIGHT MOVING (US) is the new band from former Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore. Having parked his legendary and groundbreaking band in the garage, the ever youthful guitar pioneer has assembled a new team of players, perfectly designed to push gritty and sharply cut guitar rock even to completely new territory.

NAZORANAI (INT) take you on a trip to the furthest corners of the mind with their experimenting doom, filled with disturbed vocals and massive doses of darkness. The Japanese emperor of darkness Keiji Haino has teamed up with Oren Ambarchi and Stephen O'Malley from the hooded merchants of doom and Roskilde favorites, Sunn O))).

THE SWORD (US) is one of the most consistent and muscular heavy metal bands out there today. Whether your hard rock benchmarks are contemporary sludge- and stoner metal bands, or Black Sabbath, you’re more than well taken care of here. In the world of The Sword, who’s latest album deals with forbidden Christian scriptures, only one thing is sacred: they worship the guitar riff in all its power and glory.

UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS (UK) have managed to create somewhat of a small cult following around their bloodsoaked and psychedelic hard rock. The British, mildly deviant rock gods will be a revelation to all who enjoy the rock soaked in memorable melodies and guitars with nostalgic fuzz-effects. Mind Control, the third album from the band, is just around the corner.

A warm and sunny addition to the Roskilde Festival 2013 lineup

Bombino, Hoba Hoba Spirit, Kottarashky & The Rain Dogs and Meridian Brothers bring some well-needed sunshine to your early spring.

The last couple of days have been horribly cold in Scandinavia – but hopefully today’s music announcements, ranging from West African desert blues to Colombian Latin rythms with a twist, will bring some well-needed sunshine to your day.

BOMBINO (NE) has become an ambassador for peace. His raw and poetic guitar playing is like witnessing a West African Jimi Hendrix shrouded in desert clothes. The guitarist with the rock star potential belongs to the desert nomads called the Tuaregs. Their hypnotic music has been a part of Roskilde Festival before when bands such as Tinariwen and Terakaft visited the festival.

HOBA HOBA SPIRIT (MA) has been a part of a minor Moroccan music revolution. Since the band turned on the amplifiers in the late 90s, they have combined rock and the tones of ancient Morocco in a way that has practically turned them into a national treasure. The fearless music collective combines traces of The Clash, Bob Marley and North African gnawa rhythms with their own melodic and accessible music.

KOTTARASHKY & THE RAIN DOGS (BG) invite us to the Bulgarian cosmopol Sofia. Kottarashky broke through with the laptop based Opa Hey! With the backing band The Rain Dogs he wanted to take a more organic approach. The dexterous orchestra serves a chilled brew of Eastern European folk music, dub, funk and soul.

MERIDIAN BROTHERS (CO) do avantgarde pop from another dimension. Their foundation is Latin and tropical rhythms from their homeland. In a bubbling witch’s brew of sunshine and madness, bandleader and jester Eblis Álvarez takes us into his vision of Latin America. The crooked sounds are made out of lounge-like organs, seasick rhythms and steel brass.

More electronic music at Roskilde Festival 2013

Simian Mobile Disco, Carli, Eik, Gnucci and Lemâitre are added to the lineup.
After last week’s release of the German electronic legends Kraftwerk, this week we focus on some brand-new upcoming electronic acts.

However today’s British addition to the lineup are well on their way to becoming an institution amongst fans of techno, house and electronica.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO (UK) has combined dance-friendly club music, experimental techno and pop bangers since the beginning of the new millenium. The duo has become highly respected VIPs who merge the best of electronic music capitals such as London, Detroit and Chicago.

CARLI (SE) is an overwhelmingly talented DJ and producer. The eclectic Swede has built up a CV bulging with transatlantic impact and VIP collaborators. A shooting star who has already received the endorsement of Robyn and A-Trak, among others.

EIK (NO) specialises in 80s-tinted nostalgia and colour-saturated soundscapes full of disco and synth pop. The duo, which turns into a quartet on stage, creates dreamy electronica full of gentle synths and wonderful minor tones with impressive ease.

GNUCCI (SE) finally takes the stage on her own, having served under the flags of prior Roskilde acts such as Spoek Mathambo, Mash Up International and Schlachthofbronx. Now the time has come for us to get to know the gifted brunette entirely on her own terms.

LEMÂITRE (NO) aims at becoming the Norwegian equivalent to French acts such as Justice, Phoenix and Daft Punk. The international audience will surely continue dancing when Lemâitre this year releases another EP of organic electro beats, called Relativity 3.

The shooting stars will take off at Apollo Countdown
Carli, Eik, Gnucci and Lemâitre will play the Apollo Countdown stage, which is the home of elctronic beats during the first four days of the festival. Simian Mobile Disco will take on Apollo between 4 and 7 July.

Who should play at Roskilde Festival 2013

Recommend an upcoming band for this year's festival and win tickets.
This year it’s your turn to decide which bands should have the opportunity to play at Roskilde Festival 2013. In collaboration with Tuborg we invite you to help us find promising upcoming bands who deserve the unique opportunity to play at Roskilde Festival. We’re looking for two bands who YOU think deserve the chance to play at this year’s festival.

In order to join, you have to recommend your favourite band through our Facebook app.

7 rules-of-thumb
The artists recommended...

must be from the Nordic countries

are unknown to the general festival audience

have never played at Roskilde Festival before

deserve a career boost, in your opinion

represent a genre variation similar to that found on Roskilde Festival's other stages

have the courage to play in front of 2000 people

kick ass, make blood freeze, hair stand on end, heads shake, dance shoes glow, etc.

NOT a popularity contest
We’d love to hear your recommendations and your reasons. it’s your chance to let Roskilde Festival’s booking committee know why this particular band is awesome. So it’s all about qualified opinions and NOT a popularity contest. The committee is in charge of the final choice of bands, so your reasoning is pretty important, and it’s your chance to have your say on this year’s programme.

Win tickets
We draw among all recommendations for 4 x 5 tickets to Roskilde Festival 2013. It doesn’t matter who you recommend – as long as you DO recommend, you’re in the competition.

The canopy has been transformed

We now humbly update our well-known symbol and logo.
We have taken a deep breath and made a big decision.

We have changed the canopy in the Roskilde logo. We know that for some this doesn’t mean much, but for others this means a great deal. The canopy symbolises music, unity, lifeblood, diversity and everything else Roskilde stands for.

We would never completely ditch the canopy. We have nonetheless dared to make some adjustments. The new canopy is accompanied by a new font and the orange hue has become a bit warmer. Nerdy, we know – but think about all the people with canopy tattoos.

Have no despair if you have a very special relationship with the “old” canopy. It will always symbolise Roskilde Festival, just like all our previous logos.

4 solid acts coming to Roskilde Festival

Today's music package offers electronica, folk pop and Danish-language pop.
This Wednesday we announce four acts who have all earned lots of credit with both the audience and the critics.

CRYSTAL CASTLES (CA) is a duo who inject the energy from punk into their trance-inspired electronica. Alice Glass is a shrill and fired-up front woman who sings on top of analogue synths, a pulsating beat and neverending stroboscopes.

MARIE KEY (DK) has established herself as one of the most original songwriters and lyricists in Denmark. With a more electronic sound, she has conquered both the radio waves and the critics with her latest album.

THE LUMINEERS (US) is the latest star in the sky playing stomp-and-clap folk rock, which is getting popular all over the world. Concerts with The Lumineers often result in big singalongs and call and response with the audience.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN (IS) have fallen right into the grace of an international audience with their grandly orchestrated folk pop. With a dark nature poetry they create an unmistakably Icelandic feel. Of course, the Icelanders already consider Of Monsters And Men a national treasure.

Kraftwerk to play Roskilde Festival 2013

The electronic legends are back 15 years after their last visit.
The German legends and genre shapers return to Roskilde Festival. Their last concert in 1998 is still semi-mythical amongst fans of all kinds of electronic pop.

KRAFTWERK (DE) return to Roskilde Festival with their special 3D show, which has carried away London’s Tate Modern as well. This concert is one of few chances in Scandinavia to see the Germans who serve up a futuristic bouquet of their biggest hits on our Orange Stage.

3D glasses for the audience
Roskilde Festival hands out glasses to the audience so that everyone gets the right visual space age sensation worthy of the future-minded computer sounds. We have loads of them so that everyone can experience the influential band the best way.

Genre-shaping cyborgs
The legends from Düsseldorf were the first modern band to use electronic instruments solely. On immortal masterpieces, Kraftwerk constructed a universe of electronics, cyborgs and laser-guided synths, their synthetic beauty and ice-cold futurism has paved the way for everyone from Depeche Mode to Skrillex.

So, it's a big event to have the Germans back in 2013 when the future has already begun but Kraftwerk's music still sounds strange and at once enthused and frightened about the progress.

Kendrick Lamar to play Roskilde 2013

Jake Bugg, Hatebreed, Rokia Traoré and an electronic package from the Numbers label are also added to the lineup.
We add more stardust of solid acts to the 2013 lineup.

KENDRICK LAMAR (US) has made the leap into the list of grand hip hop acts. With good kid, m.A.A. d. city the rapper from Compton has made a bona fide masterpiece, one of the most critically-acclaimed albums of 2012. And the Nordic audience has already witnessed how he masters his craft in a live setting as well.

The American hip hopper is just one of several great acts today.

JAKE BUGG (UK) takes the best of 60s folk and 90s Brit rock and moulds his own melodic blues. The young musician has taken the stage as a young Bob Dylan and all the established stars are eager to sing his praise as well.

HATEBREED (US) have made mosh pits everywhere red-hot since 1994. They visit Roskilde Festival for the first time since 2004. The Americans breed their own monster: ’Celtic Frost hardcore’ front man Jamey Jasta dubs the genre, conveying a mix of thrash and hardcore.

ROKIA TRAORÉ (ML) plays Roskilde Festival for the third time. Today, the culturally widespread anchored diva is not just one of Mali's but Africa's central music ambassadeurs – her forthcoming album is called Beautiful Africa and is produced by PJ Harvey's sidekick John Parish.

NUMBERS feat. RUSTIE, JACKMASTER, ONEMAN, SPENCER, DEADBOY, REDINHO and SOPHIE (UK) present an electronic evening without genre restrictions. On this tour de force with Glasgow as the base, we get to hear techno, electro, hiphop, UK funky, dubstep and much more.

Nordic package ready for Roskilde Festival 2013

Bendik, Dråpe, Indians, Pää Kii, Ásgeir Trausti and Wintergatan are added the the lineup.
Today's announcement is a true Nordic package, covering the full geographical spectrum from Iceland to Finland.

BENDIK (NO) hover in the same air space as Mew and fellow Norwegians Lukestar, even though their expression is a bit more electronic than that of their colleagues. The trio is keen on mixing the grandiose with icy harmonies so that you almost feel the polar wind.

DRÅPE (NO) produce roaring, dreamy guitar noise with yearning angelic vocals hovering on top. Their first EP is full of noise pop taking off on pink clouds for the upper part of the atmosphere.

INDIANS (DK) is an international success with a record deal with the iconic 4AD label. Influential media such as NME and Pitchfork praise the debut album Somewhere Else. With a broad palette, the versatile musician creates weightless pop, combining acoustic folk with psychedelic electronica and atmospheric soundscapes.

PÄÄ KII (FI) delivers no-nonse punk as if taken from the late 70s. Devoid of detours of any kind. The Finns sing the rocking and rolling punk tunes in their strange mother tongue. Still, they have been nominated for a Nordic Music Prize for their energetic and fast-selling debut album.

ÁSGEIR TRAUSTI (IS) may be the hottest new Icelandic act right now, and he is nominated for a Nordic Music Prize. The music is based on naked, beautiful songs, written and played on his acoustic guitar and spiced up with electronic features. The band version of the concerts includes musicians who normally play in his older brother’s reggae band Hjálmar.

WINTERGATAN (SE) is like a journey into the world of a shimmering music box with a bunch of mainly electronic musicians as guides. And even though only two songs are shared with the public so far, Wintergatan displays a flair for poetic sound images not unlike those of Frenchman Yann Tiersen.

Alternative package ready for Roskilde Festival

Dead Can Dance, Efterklang, Foxygen, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Suuns and Savages are added to the 2013 lineup.
We make the coming weekend a bit nicer with the announcement of these six new acts for Roskilde Festival 2013.

DEAD CAN DANCE (AU) play their very first concert ever on Danish soil - the only one in Scandinavia this summer. Through a fog of chanting vocals, reverb and thick synthesizers, Dead Can Dance calls forth the bewitched sweetness of Arabian nights and the odours of the Far East.

EFTERKLANG (DK) visits Roskilde for the fourth time with a show that will cement why the Danish lads are loved all over the world. The trio has signed with the legendary 4AD label. They have made audience members hold their breath back, playing fragile chamber pop with strong nuances and colours.

FOXYGEN (US) produces innocent, witty catchy tunes with impressive confidence and independence. The young blog darlings and critics' faves are obviously head-over-heels in love with the 60s bigwigs, but the duo has enough charisma, flamboyance and self-deprecation to make their songs solid material in the 21st century.

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA (NZ/US) also look towards the 60s but add their own laid-back and homemade vibe to the acid trip. Stoned guitar rock filled with flickering sunshine, easy-going nonchalance and heartfelt tunes.

SUUNS (CA) is an advanced, adventurous rock band who love to jam deep far inside a cloud of electronica, kraut rock and post-rock. A new album called Images Du Futur is out in March - from a band one could call Montreal's answer to Radiohead.

SAVAGES (UK) play raw post-punk with a gory bite. The black-clad punk sisters have only released one single and has chosen to use their critically acclaimed concerts as the primary form of expression until the debut album lands later in the year.

Tego Calderón comes to Roskilde Festival 2013

Chinese Man and Mokoomba also fill the Roskilde lineup with sunshine.
Today's urban package is a three-stage rocket, exploring destinations as diverse as France, Zimbabwe and Puerto Rico.

TEGO CALDERÓN (PR) visits Roskilde Festival on his first Scandinavian tour ever. This is the first time in six years that the reggaeton king is in Europe. Reggaeton is a mix of Spanish-language rap, salsa, dancehall and other tropical beats – the genre has its origins in Puerto Rico's poorest neighbourhoods. Tego Calderón is partly responsible for making the music genre grow big both inside and outside the slum.

CHINESE MAN (FR) makes the party spin from their turntables with a mashup of funk, house, jazz, reggae and hip hop. The French DJ collective is a group of music lovers with a broad approach to turntablism and a penchant for obscure samples and crackling nostalgia. With visuals and vocalists on top of the versatile mix, this is a great opportunity to celebrate the Year of the Snake at Roskilde Festival.

MOKOOMBA (ZW) sounds like a concentrate of African traditions – filled with swaying hips, handclaps and festive brass. With the language and rhythms from their own tonga minority, Mokoomba throws funk, pop and Latin rhythms on top, and the band has a wonderful front man and lead singer in Mathias Muzaza. Uplifting dance music, almost certain to leave listeners happy and with a nice suntan.

Kreator to Roskilde Festival 2013

Also, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Anaal Nathrakh ensure musical shell shocks.

Three heavy names add extra weight to the Roskilde Festival's music program.

Today's package gives room for some legends that have helped create and develop a central genre. At the same time Roskilde Festival continues a tradition of great diversity in the metal programme by also accommodating the more extreme forms of metal.

KREATOR (DE) are German metal kings who have been making the stage boil for more than 30 years. Since the early 80s, these Germans have been spitting out albums that have enshrined their sound in the thrash genre DNA. Their last album is the Phantom Antichrist from 2012, showing a band in great form.

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN (US) made its name with complex hard core, which is not only brutal, but also jazz virtuoso-like and filled with surprising genre detours. Their live shows are intense bursts of energy, where the complexities occasionally explode in a ferocity that has made the band's concerts legendary and infamous.

ANAAL NATHRAKH (UK) uses elements of black metal, melodic death metal and grind core to blur the boundaries of how uncompromising you can use the heavy music to evoke a dark cloud of terror and death. When Mick Kenney and David Hunt perform on stage, they usually bring in reinforcement, so together they can match the attack of the guitar and growls on the Brits’ albums.

The Danish post-punk band has impressed far and wide and now joins the 2013 lineup.
Last Saturday the 26th of January the Danish music critics were handing out awards to Danish artists they think deserve them.

The Danish band Synd og Skam were nominated in no less than three categories - Hope of the year, Band of the year and live act of the year.

They won 'Hope of the year' and at the same time, they could announce that they are going to perform at this years Roskilde Festival.

SYND OG SKAM is a new Danish band who's been praised far and wide. With pure poetry in Danish and semi-improvised post-punk, the Danes stir a very touching mélange of genres. So far, the noble savages have only released one EP but they're already a darling with both the audience, the critics – and Roskilde Festival.

First Junior acts are ready

Baby In Vain, Mother Lewinsky and Overthrow are added to the 2013 lineup.
Three acts have been booked for the Pavilion Junior stage - the bands on this stage play in the early period of the festival from 30 June to 3 July.

BABY IN VAIN (DK) find their inspiration in dragging stoner rock and slack grunge from the 90s. Their guitar rock is rattling, reckless and tuneful. None of the girls in the promising trio has turned 20 yet.

MOTHER LEWINSKY (DK) use the violin as the centre in their advanced pop music. The three masterminds behind the grand live orchestra see Mother Lewinsky as a playground where they can explore the potential in using strings to create a delicious pop sound.

OVERTHROW (NO) makes the blood boil with an aggressive mix of metal, hardcore punk and genuine rock’n’roll. Attention has grown around Overthrow, especially after the debut album Adjust to Darkness saw the light of day. Their sonic punch-in-the-stomach has triggered comparisons to Kvelertak who's also from Stavanger and in the 2013 Roskilde lineup.

Festival as ladder towards climax
The announcement of bands for the Pavilion Junior stage takes place slightly earlier than usual. We consider the overall festival as an eight-day-long experience ladder. This leads to a festival that increases in intensity and peaks between Thursday and Sunday. As all eight days form a total experience, it's now natural to start unveiling what music you can catch during the earliest days of the festival.

Young energy ready to take Roskilde Festival 2013

Angel Haze, The Bots and King Krule add an extra glow of youth and freshness to the lineup.
Today's music acts may not be that old. Yet, their music is imbued with a confidence, weight and maturity you would associate with much older acts.

ANGEL HAZE (US) is one of the new strong women of hip hop. The energetic amazon caused a stir with her version of Eminem's "Cleaning Out My Closet" in which she raps about a sexual assault. "I run New York," is the chorus from her signature song. We bet she includes Roskilde when she drops by.

THE BOTS (US) master punk rock'n'roll, aiming for both the melodies and the carnal groove. As a matter of course, they find an unprecedented point on the colour scheme of retro rock. Brothers Mikaiah and Anaiah Lei have fine-tuned their skills on the electric guitar and the drums since childhood – and they released their first album when they were 15 and 12, respectively.

KING KRULE (UK) might end up as the melancholic voice of his generation. He serves up his depressive songs in a melodic blend of blues, jazz and reverb-wrapped pop. Previous projects from the East London troubadour also indicate a familiarity with dubstep and hip hop. It is hopefully only in the young Brit’s lyrics that his future looks sooty and black.

From Rihanna to small upcoming acts
Yesterday we announced superstar Rihanna. But our heart also beats for the upcoming and still waiting-to-be-big acts. Whatever your prefer – the big headliners or the completely fresh acts – Roskilde Festival has lots of goodies on offer.

The talented superstar will deliver a sumptuous pop party.
With today's big announcement we add a poppy queen of hearts to a lineup that is already rich on great acts.

RIHANNA (BB) has become one of today’s biggest stars in R&B, pop and hiphop. The Caribbean superstar's debut at Roskilde Festival will be another spectacular party under the Nordic summer sky. Rihanna’s talent, charisma, dance moves and long line of hits dominate a show filled with glamour, sex appeal and inescapable choruses.

Convincing superstar
Rihanna has just released Unapologetic, her seventh album in just as many years. The first single from the album, ”Diamonds”, has been a no. 1 in 27 countries and is one of her very biggest hits so far. With 37 million sold albums, Rihanna is a major headliner from the poppy end of the genre scale.

Earlier in the still young festival season we have announced more rock-oriented bands for Roskilde Festival 2013, for instance Queens of the Stone Age, Slipknot and Volbeat.

The Norwegian shooting stars are added to the lineup along with Ukranian band Dakhabrakha.
Eurosonic Noorderslag soon takes place, and on this occasion we announce two exciting bands who also play at the Dutch showcase festival.

HIGHASAKITE (NO) seems to be the new big Norwegian music act. Their alternative pop is filled with hit potential and catchy tunes. "Indian Summer" has already spread its heavy-hearted sweetness on the radio. The song is almost a signature tune for the Norwegians who like to play live wearing Indian outfits.

DAKHABRAKHA (UA) creates a self-confessed "ethnic chaos" of sensitive falsetto vocals, accordion, cello, bass-dark jazz and Ukrainian folk music. The expression is spiritual, melodious and here and there almost a bit scary like the most shadowy corners of a remote bazaar. Elements of both Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian descent pop up along the way.

Animal Collective visits Roskilde Festival 2013

The experimental nature boys will be joined by a batch of solid hip hop acts from New York + a Detroit detour.
We start this new music year with a package containing avant-garde rock and music from the hip hop capital of New York.

ANIMAL COLLECTIVE is a very central name when it comes to alternative experimental pop. The New Yorker band has pushed pop music into a whole new dimension on a number of deeply curious albums, latest on Centipede Hz from 2012. For fans of especially alternative rock and pop - well, innovative music, generally - this is a dream booking. We haven't seen these wunder kids since 2006 when they were still a rather small band playing on our small Pavilion stage.

And then it's all about hip hop…
The rest of today's package is a batch of young hip hop with a respectful nod to the 90s.

In a time of full of exciting genre fusions, it's kind of liberating to have a bunch of hip hop bands who really appreciate old-school styles - without sounding passé.

ACTION BRONSON has a past as a gourmet chef, but has put palette knife and carving fork aside to devote himself to rap. With great confidence, he stands on the shoulders of Ghostface Killah and the rest of the Wu-Tang Clan as his rap takes him away from the kitchen and straight onto the hip hop scene.

DANNY BROWN has grown up in Detroit, is a self-confessed music geek and has continued the legacy of the cap-clad king of the city J Dilla in the company of Black Milk. His lyrical universe often revolves around drugs and the grim conditions of his home town. His mental condition is not all that bad, however, as he leaves room for plenty of quivering women's thighs and hefty doses of humour.

FLATBUSH ZOMBIES is a duo whose rap is based on four classic hip hop subjects: smoke, money, ladies and freshly baked waffles. Erick Arc Elliot produces the couple who has also rapped alongside A$AP Rocky. Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice deliver philosophical horrorcore with a stoned twist.

JOEY BADA$$ is a New York rapper on fire. He is part of Pro Era, a young group of hip hoppers who seems to have a well-developed love of the classic 90s scene of their hometown. This crew may be New York's equivalent of Los Angeles' Odd Future, and Joey Bada$$ is one of the Brooklyn collective's most noted members.

2013 will be a ladder towards climax

This year we'll create a festival that gets wilder day by day – throughout a total of 8 days. Read about some of the new initiatives we're working on for Roskilde Festival 2013.
Since 2005, we have divided the festival experience into two distinct parts – four days of warm-up followed by four music days with full throttle on the stages. Never mind that in 2013. We drop the idea of warm-up. When we start, we start, and we build up – step by step – towards the wildest climax.

We call it an eight-day experience ladder that leads to a greater festival, peaking when the music's playing on all stages between Thursday and Sunday.

This means that you don't have to be late for anything – even if you start higher up the ladder.

So in the coming months you should watch out for news from Dream City, Relax City, Game City, Street City and Cinema City. The volunteer planners are in the process of creating the best environment for you and your camp in a way that you haven't experienced before.

Apollo Zone moves into the borderland
We're particularly pleased to open the gates to a new Apollo Zone. It's the name of a new hood bordering between camping city and the festival area, and it's built on reclaimed grounds – the refilled gravel pit not far from the Pavilion stage. Here electronic music and art melt together in a crackling and festive universe with the Apollo stage at the very center.

The inflatable electro cocoon (one of many names for the stage) starts the festival by touring the campsite and presenting fresh, undiscovered electronic acts – before landing in its own zone and continuing with electronic music in the same variation as its debut year 2012.

Look forward to seeing when Apollo plays the sun down and fills the zone with hot, orange-red visuals.

109 days in Dream City
We're moving Dream City much closer to the festival site where it fuses with Green City, Poor City and Media City. Dream City is still all about what you want to create – be it art, installations or ideas – along with others.

If you dare build this year's festival, you can sign up right now and get access to build your project up to 100 days before the site opens for everyone else. That gives you 100 days of construction, 8 days of festival and 1 day of cleaning up the in total 109-day long Roskilde Festival!

More music on the way
And we have good stuff coming up. Right now we're focused on finalising the planning of the festival site. This includes moving the Gloria stage out of its tent and into one of the halls nearby, and in the other hall you will find a new food court with room for 20 different food stalls of the more experimental kind. Bon appétit!

Oh yeah, then there's the music. 200 acts on 8 stages in 8 days. Check the list of already announced acts here, and we've got much more coming...

Reserve your camping spot and build Dream City at Roskilde Festival.
Want to build Roskilde Festival’s coolest metal neighborhood? Would you love to create an urban garden that can provide the festival-goers with fresh vegetables? Do you think your camp has always lacked a bell tower or a dance floor? Do you want a roof over your head? Furniture? Power in the camp? Or do you want to participate in building a temple that provides space for silence and reflection?

Dream City is about community co-creation, collaboration – and great ideas. Dream City is an audience-driven area at Roskilde Festival. It is the place for those who want to create the right setting and content at their festival. It is for those who want to do something extra with their camp, build something extraordinary, make some cool activities or do something that elevates others’ festival experience.

Reserve your camping area before the festival starts
In Dream City you can establish your camp as you want to. You have the opportunity to reserve a camping area and build your camp or project in one of the festival's most central camping areas.

All you need to stay in and be a part of Dream City is a ticket to Roskilde Festival 2013 and the desire to build an audience-driven area at the festival. In Dream City you can build the elements that will make both your and other peoples’ Roskilde Festival perfect.

Participate
In the early 2013 we are doing three workshops where you can discuss your ideas and get assistance to realise them. At the three workshops you can also get your camp approved on the spot.

The internationally acclaimed Danish band returns to Roskilde with a new album.
In 2010 they opened the Orange Stage as a relatively obscure act. In 2013 they return to Roskilde with great international interest to their name.

WHEN SAINTS GO MACHINE (DK) plays flamboyant, electronic pop – fronted by the incomparably versatile singer Nikolaj Vonsild. Their impressionistic sound is permeated by a desire to experiment. Yet, the melodies and the delicate sway of the hips are never abandoned. And their latest single "Mannequin" demonstrates that the towering ambitions are unlikely to be lowered on the next album. It’s planned for release in 2013 when the Copenhagen dandies visit Roskilde Festival for the third time.

Disclosure coming to Roskilde Festival 2013

Baauer, Holy Other, Jam City and Vatican Shadow have also been added to the lineup.
Roskilde Festival is ready with the first batch of fresh electronic acts for the 2013 lineup.

DISCLOSURE (UK) has on the first single release paved the way for the future of pop, house and dubstep. It's chic, urban and touches upon several hot spots on the electronic genre map.

BAAUER (US) blends house, southern hip hop and bass music in his own instrumental rehash. Reputable electronic names such as Rustie and Diplo have noticed this promising wiz kid.

HOLY OTHER (UK) mixes house, moody R&B and British dubstep in a darkened sound full of copy-pasted ghostlike vocals, clicking rimshots and keyboards in minor.

JAM CITY (UK) reinvents, mutates and transforms music as if Gyro Gearloose were let loose behind a mixing console. Somewhere inside the violent, futuristic music you find a wreckage of soul, house, techno and pop.

VATICAN SHADOW (US) also records under the name Prurient and is head of the trendsetting record label Hospital Productions. The American's disturbing electro is dark, dystopian and industrial.

Today's announcement shows that Roskilde Festival 2013 will also be characterised by a first-class offering in almost every conceivable type of electronic music. And with our new, unique stage Apollo, we know that the artists are in good hands.

The 10 best ringtones are found

The competition gets harder and now 10 winner candidates are left in the contest of Roskilde Festival’s official ringtone.
The last month Roskilde audience has uploaded personal suggestions of how a true Roskilde Festival ringtone should sound. We have received 136 different ringtones composed by people from all over the world.

Now we have picked out 10 winner candidates, which we believe are the best ones to capture the ‘Roskilde Festival feeling’ – in only 30 seconds.

Among the 10 winner candidates you’ll find ringtones in many different genres, e.g. rock, dance punk and electronica. And they are all contributing with their each and own unique sound and atmosphere.

Now the 10 finalists will be rated by our panel of hardcore Roskilde Festival guests, and then soon we’ll announce a final winner.

LISTEN TO ALL THE CANDIDATES

Special mentions…
We’d like to mention some of the ringtones, even though they weren’t picked as winner candidates.

For instance ringtone #122 is a very original composition about a worried mother who calls Roskilde Festival about her missing son – in very broken English.

The composer of ringtone #90 is a Belgian who’s hopelessly in love and looking for his loved one, a Danish girl. And he hopes that this contribution to the contest can help him on his quest to find her.

Both #141 and #142 are also worth listening to as they individually contain a lot of creativity and absolutely don’t sound like anything you’ve ever heard before.

Slipknot to play Roskilde Festival 2013

The clowns from hell play one of this summer's few chosen concerts on Roskilde Festival’s the Orange Stage.
More blood-dripping metal makes its way entry into Roskilde Festival's lineup.

Almost 15 years after their debut album, SLIPKNOT (US) has become one of the world's greatest metal bands – on a par with much older icons. They have conquered a top spot in the black league with a series of raging metal albums and unforgettable stage shows in which they commit themselves 101 %.

Plays few shows in 2013
The Iowa band’s Roskilde debut was in 2004. In 2009, they proved again why their hard-tuned metal extravagance is perfect for the Orange Stage and the very top of the festival poster. Slipknot crowns just a few, chosen festival posters in 2013 as absolute headliners.

The joy and pride of having them back is great. In recent years, there has been some doubt as to whether the band would continue – even if their homecoming show at Knotfest in Iowa last summer gave renewed hope.

Roskilde Festival has already announced Queens of the Stone Age, Volbeat, Sigur Rós, C2C, Kvelertak, Deadelus and Goat for the 2013 edition.

The Neolithic gang is added to the lineup along with C2C and Daedelus.
We kickstart the ticket sale for Roskilde 2013 with a round of psychedelic heavy rock and a couple of solid electronic names.

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (US) play psychedelic heavy rock reeking of both cactus acid, sex and petrol. At the same time they have conquered the airwaves with hits that have made them one of the most beloved rock groups of the 21st century. 2013 will clearly be a new landmark year for the band. According to front man Josh Homme, the new album is a return to the band's early virtues.

C2C (FR) delivers a turntable concert tightly packed with hip hop, soul, electronica and other genre acrobatics. The four Frenchmen have won the DMC DJ team championship four years in a row. In recent years, the four-piece have split up into two successful projects, Hocus Pocus and Beat Torrent, both of whom have visited Roskilde earlier.

DAEDELUS – ARCHIMEDES SHOW (US) is a complete concert experience tailored to match the American original’s skewed avant-garde electronica. A wall of mirrors combined with lights and projections create the impression of standing inside a giant mirror ball. This kind of magic cannot be done just anywhere, so we’re proud to present this at Roskilde.

Buy a photo with a view from the top of Orange Stage

The CphCph photographers are now selling photos shot from some of the most sought-out vantage points at Roskilde Festival.
The story behind the pictures from the top of Orange Stage is actually pretty simple. We asked the photographers from CphCph if they’d like to come play with us, and where they'd like to shoot pictures from. Fortunately, they were in a playful mood - and as they are very fond of climbing, they chose the roof of Orange Stage and the Pavilion Junior stage, on top of the windmill and similar vantage points.

The result is an amazing series of pictures, and now you can buy the five best photos.

The pictures are printed directly on aluminum plates in the format 50x75 cm. Aluminum print is sharp as a razor, and therefore it's an excellent media for CphCph’s works. The price is DKK 2,500 (EUR 335) apiece including postage.

The pictures from Roskilde Festival 2012 differ from CphCph’s usual projects, which take place on rooftops, in the underground, secret places and empty squares in Copenhagen. But their love of strong colours, dizzying angles and mystery can also be found in this unique series of pictures.

Get a unique Roskilde memory up on YOUR wall.

Nordic music package kickstarts the festival season.
Roskilde Festival is already working diligently on putting together a lineup that can compare with the successes of previous years. We start off with a diverse Nordic package that has something for almost every taste.

VOLBEAT (DK) has developed from a Nordic favourite to a huge'n'heavy name on the international metal scene. In 2013, Volbeat will make another impact. A new, galloping rock album is released this spring. The homecoming at Roskilde Festival will be a proud reunion with some local heroes whose world domination is about to be a reality.

SIGUR RÓS (IS) is back at Roskilde Festival for the first time since 2006. Their abstract and poetic future rock has turned them into a unique institution on the modern music scene. The Icelandics' latest album Valtari showed a very quiet side of the band. On the double album Innni from 2011 you can hear Sigur Rós’ qualities as a rock band in front of the audience.

KVELERTAK (NO) has made the international audience gasp for air with their blend of hardcore punk, black metal and garage rock. Roskilde Festival sent out an early invitation and booked the band as the very first this festival season.

GOAT (SE) plays psychedelic rock with an African flavour. With electric guitar, accordion, organ and a well-developed sense of funk and trance, Goat invites us on a wild ride towards a gaudy parallel world. The debut album World Music is one of the most hyped and critically acclaimed coming out of The North in 2012.

And we're off!
With today's announcements we have set the bar high for a new summer peak full of musical impacts and surprising experiences. We can't wait to put together another lineup that reaches into every imaginable genre, colours and sounds.

The ticket sale opens on 1 December 2012.

Did you miss out on the Jonathan Johansson concert at this year’s festival? Now you can listen to the live recording on Swedish P3.
Jonathan Johansson played an overwhelming and brilliant concert on the Odeon stage at this year’s Roskilde Festival. With his melancholy voice and his spot-on arrangements, Johansson proved that he can live up to his roots in the Swedish pop tradition. Although he played at the same time as Bruce Springsteen, he filled the Odeon tent with a thrilled audience.

On Tuesday October 30, Swedish radio station P3 gives you the opportunity to listen to the captivating concert (again) from this year’s festival.
You can stream the concert from Swedish P3’s website.

Donation: Skating with a soundtrack

The world's first skate park with a built-in DJ school has just opened in Cambodia. Roskilde Festival has donated 142.706 dkk to the DJ school.
At Roskilde Festival it has been possible to listen to music, skate and hang out with friends for many years. But this is not the case everywhere in the world.

Therefore, the two non-profit organisations Turning Tables and Skateistan come together to create an impressive skate park and dj-school in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Here marginalised young people have the opportunity to find a community in the youth culture rising from skateboarding and electronic music.

The idea of the dj-school and skate park is to strengthen self-confidence among the young people and give them opportunities for a better future, which they get by having a permanent place where they can freely express themselves through movement and creativity.

Skateistan has been working on the skate park for a while, and then Turning Tables wished to establish a dj-school in connection with the skate park. Therefore Roskilde Festival donated 142.706 dkk to Turning Tables, which enabled them to build the dj-school. The whole thing opened with a huge party in October 2012 where the Cambodian youth demonstrated impressive skills as DJs, and they presented a show in both breakdancing, martial arts, and, of course, skating.

This weekend the world cup finals in football for homeless and excluded people start in Mexico. The Danish homeless national football team report ready for the world cup. Meet the selected players from the Danish team, which Roskilde Festival is official sponsor for.
Later today, a flight towards Mexico City takes off. On board are players from the Danish national team heading for the world cup finals in football for homeless and excluded people, which starts on Sunday.

Here at Roskilde Festival we cheer for the Danish team, but homeless football serves a much higher purpose than a series of victories and defeats in the world cup.

When the organisation Ombold has spent the past several months training and coaching the players, it's about getting homeless and excluded people back to a normal life through engagement and participation.

And a world cup experience should be the ultimate chance in the transition from excluded to selected.

That’s why we have signed up as official team sponsor with a donation to Ombold. We wish the players Daniel, Imran, Patrick, Andrew, Tim, Eerli, Rasmus and Christian the best of luck in Mexico in the coming week.

It is the seventh time the Danish homeless national team participates in the world cup. The draw placed the Danish team in Group A along with Mexico, South Africa, Croatia, Canada and Haiti.

Throughout all of October you can submit your five music requests.
The booking of bands for Roskilde Festival 2013 has begun, and so the time has come for you to submit your band requests.

Roskilde Festival is for the audience. Therefore, it’s important for us to hear your say on who should play. Even though we can’t fulfill every wish, your requests are an invaluable source of knowledge and inspiration.

Your requests make a difference
Every year, some of the most popular band requests also make it to the top of the poster. One example is Bon Iver who was a big request last year and, as you might know, they played at the festival this summer. We also get a hint about the most popular of the “smaller” acts. So, you can have a big influence on the music booking, if you make your requests now.

Correct spelling, please
Follow the link to our Facebook page where you can make your five music requests. Please be careful about spelling the artist names correctly, or else your request won’t be registered. So give your record cover an extra look before you type away.

Do you want to be a part of Roskilde Festival LEGO Orange Stage? Send yourself to our headquarter in LEGO format.
The LEGO exhibition, which is a reproduction of Roskilde Festival 2011, is made only by Roskilde-goers. The festival site and Orange Stage are built by festival participant Morten Øberg, while all the LEGO minifigures are from other festival-goers.

All LEGO characters are different and each has a unique personal touch that makes it possible to recognise it in the crowd. Some have clothes or costumes on, characteristic of their camp, while others have all sorts of crazy or plain clothes on. A mixture we only see among Roskilde-goers. For example a member of camp 'Where's Wally' is heading towards the pits, while pirates, cowboys and aliens can be seen in other places at the festival site.

Everybody is welcome to send minifigures, and if you have specific requests as to what you want your minifigure to do in the exhibition, just write it, and we will make sure to follow your request.

LEGO employees also want to be in front of Orange Stage
Employees at LEGO not only love LEGO, but also Roskilde Festival. A Roskilde donation among LEGO employees is proof of that. We have received 64 LEGO men and women from LEGO employees who all want to have a minifigure representing themselves in front of our LEGO Orange Stage.

The exhibition must benefit all
The LEGO Orange Stage is currently located at Roskilde Festival's headquarters, but we’re currently working on getting it placed outside the house, so that many people as possible can enjoy it.

The Urban Green House is a mobile greenhouse, made for use in the city, and designed to counter the obstacles urban architecture creates for gardening.

The idea of a mobile room for gardening and relaxation intrigues us at Roskilde Festival. So at Roskilde Festival 2013 you will find the Urban Green House at the festival where we will test the project in a different environment.

Roskilde Festival 2012 says thank you!

The 2012 Roskilde Festival was about experiences unlike any you'll find outside Roskilde Festival. A programme with everything you could possibly want from the world of music, powerful performance artists, a new and completely inflatable stage, of meeting with resourceful asylum seekers, and thousands of festival guests creating their own festival experience. And despite a bit of rain, all tickets to the festival were sold.
Music, music, music!
More than 200 different artists have just performed at Roskilde Festival 2012. With a brand-new stage for electronic music, Apollo, the music programme now reaches even further across the musical landscape. From Bruce Springsteen to new electronica – and back again.

The performing artists on Apollo were impressed with the sound, the lights - the entire setting, actually. Next year, Apollo will become an even bigger part of the true soul of Roskilde Festival. Expect more bass and more crackling sounds from this futuristic cocoon.

Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa stood up against the stereotypical perception of American rappers. The queen of bluegrass Alison Krauss made grown men shed a tear under Arena's lights. Bowerbirds, Julia Holter and tUnE-yArDs won over new fans at a festival, which – as tradition dictates – also had a big amount of heavy metal in its blood, courtesy of Weedeater, Crowbar and Baroness.

During warm-up, the best new Nordic bands proved that you don't have to be a seasoned player to make an entire Pavilion Junior stage go crazy. With music video recordings and pop-up concerts, the party started, and it is now coming to a climax with DJ Static. In these exact moments, he and a long list of guest performances are shutting down Arena in style.

More highlights at a festival which will surely make 2012 one of finest Roskilde Festivals in history.

All in the name of community
The best of times for the rest of time. Those were the words the American artist Steve Powers chose for his thought-provoking decoration on the grandstand wall opposite Orange Stage, thereby capturing the essence of the Roskilde Festival experience in one short sentence. The exact meaning of the words is up for interpretation, but perhaps Steve Powers is trying to remind everyone not to let go of the friendships made at Roskilde Festival, and the wish to let one self be moved?

American performance artist Charlie Todd carried out his mp3 experiment with great success – and a little bit of chaos. Hundreds of guests had shown up for the flash mob in which they downloaded instructions on an mp3 file. Moments later, everyone made a big, synchronised movement in the crowd, creating much joy and surprise among the audience.

The common rules and regulations at the camping areas were allowed a few days off in Dream City, making way for full-blown creativity among guests. This resulted in an amazing sculpture made entirely of 30 kilos worth of well-chewed chewing gum, a genuine kissing booth, among many other fantastic things.

A big appetite at Roskilde Festival
The food experience at Roskilde Festival is as unique and unforgettable as the concert experiences, and this year the festival presented a number of different food events, all designed to teach the guests more about the food they eat at Roskilde Festival.

The programme involved events such as porridge workshops, a traditional Danish cake buffet, live pig carving and juice pressing. There was clearly a big appetite for these events among guests as they all sold out.

Face to face with asylum seekers
With this year's Statement campaign, Roskilde Festival has sparked the debate on the need for inclusion in terms of asylum seekers living at asylum centers in Denmark. Roskilde Festival promotes inclusion, and about 100 young asylum seekers joined our team of 30,000 volunteers – on the same conditions as everyone else. Both Statement volunteers and asylum seekers have told how they experienced a shift in how asylum seekers were perceived by the guests – not as weak and defeated but as strong individuals willing to fight a courageous battle to become a part of the Danish society.

The will to support the Statement campaign among guests has been fantastic. When buying their tickets to Roskilde Festival, guests were able to donate money to aid organisations working for asylum seekers, and so far DKK 350,000 (approx. EUR 47,000) was donated by guests. The amount donated during the actual festival is still unknown.

The refund collection has celebrated its 10-year anniversary this year, and signs show that the will to donate empty bottles and cans to the turquoise-coloured refund collectors is stronger than ever. The 720 refund collectors have so far collected refund worth more than DKK 500,000 (approx. EUR 67,000) from guests at Roskilde Festival.

290 tons of waste
It's no secret that 130,000 guests and volunteers leave behind large amounts of waste – about 290 tons to be as precise as possible. But even though this is more than last year, studies carried out by Roskilde Festival show that nearly half of the guests find it easier disposing their waste than last year. They know that waste is an important issue they can help solve. Many of the guests put their filled bags of waste outside the tents. The garbage vans came by, picked them up and left new bags. Just like in a real city; and it just happened without Roskilde Festival having planned it. This helped prove that Roskilde Festival is an urban experiment in which the inhabitants create the festival. Not the other way around. The Dome in Art City was supposed to have been a place to relax and chill out. It became a party hotspot. That's what the guests wanted it to be.

Come rain, come…?
"Has anyone seen the weather forecast?" Who knows how many times that question has been asked during the festival. Thankfully, Roskilde Festival 2012 was a sunny affair – even despite the fact that the sun and the blue sky had to give way to more unstable weather conditions passing over the festival grounds after warm-up. Friday was a wet affair with 7.4 mm of rain, but this year Roskilde Festival was spared any cloudbursts. And on Sunday, everyone left Roskilde Festival the same way most had arrived – under blue skies!

Against Drugs
The beginning of Roskilde Festival 2012 was marked by a tragic event when a 20-year-old guest from Sweden died after having used drugs in the camping areas. Roskilde Festival will cut the wristband on anyone caught selling drugs at the festival, and the festival also backs the police patrolling the festival by issuing warning wristbands to anyone caught with possession of drugs.

All tickets were sold
Roskilde Festival sold out this year. On top of 77,500 all-week tickets, 5,000 one-day tickets were sold for Saturday. Between 15 and 20 percent of the guests came from abroad, with Sweden, Norway and Germany as the biggest suppliers of happy festival guests. The profits are expected to be between DKK 8 and 12 million and must be donated before next year's festival.

Thank you for being a part of Roskilde Festival. See you in 2013!

The inhabitants of Camp of the Year love Burt Reynolds! The stereo is called Boom-Burt, they have developed a new version of the popular game Twister called Burtser and “Construction man Burt” even has a tattoo of Burt on his forearm.
The mustache always wins. Burt Reynolds has won the title of Camp of the Year, and Saturday champagne was poured over the cheerful champions who took home the orange beer bong trophy proving them winners of the contest.

The Reynolds triumph because they are wonderful neighbours. And fun to party with. And they're wonderful people. It’s as simple as that.

Camp of the Day: Blues girls and boys

The diversity will not come to an end when awesome Norwegians offers 'a little Pilsen' (a little beer), open mic and singing in the banquet room in B40.
From a distance the Camp of the Day does not seem like much. But when you get closer, you can tell from the cozy banquet room with daisies in the pavilions and camping chairs in a row that in this camp live 28 Norwegians who are hosting a festival within the festival. Camp "Liksomnotodden Minibluesfestival - department Roskilde focusing mainly on jazz" has, besides probably the longest camp name, also daily performances, open mic and an own festival newspaper. But the Roskilde Festival's management should not feel threatened, says festival spokeswoman Silje Tønseth:

"We just want to have a good time during warm-up with ukulele and mouth organ music. It's a great joint project and by spring 2020 we hope to have 100 people in the camp, but we do not want to compete, only add to the main festival ," she says with a slightly raised index finger.

For the 28 girls and guys from the Oslo area the goal is, that the festival is for everybody – just like its older sibling “Notoden Blues Festival” which has been an inspiration for this camp. There is room for jam sessions, quizzes from the stage in the banquet room and the plan to have Paper-scissors-rock replace beer bowling as the festival’s main game in the camping area.

Electronic duo steps up for Roskilde Festival in the nick of time.

Penguin Prison will not play at Roskilde Festival’s Cosmopol stage Saturday night at 01.30 am.

REPTILE YOUTH (DK) will be taking over the late night party instead. The duo plays electronic punk rock full of overcharged rave feeling. The potential of greatness was evident already in 2011 when Reptile Youth played the Pavilion Junior stage for up-coming Nordic acts. Mads Damsgaard Kristiansen and Esben Valløe share a sharp and dynamic attitude that will take them far and Cosmopol is the perfect new setting for this promising duo.

Camp of the Day: Gandalf, Gollum and Frodo are at the festival to check out girls

The fictional land of Mordor from the Lord of the Rings can be experienced at Roskilde Festival. The camp consists of 13 young men with a passion for fantasy and they are skilled at picking up girls.
From a long distance you can see the four meter high tower ”Barad-dûr” consisting of Saurons eye.

“We are deeply engaged Tolkien-geeks. We know all of the 14 hours of film down to every detail. And then we all share the interest of musicals, which is how we met”, says the camp members. They are all young men, who have their cultural capital in check, which can be sensed from the Camp

At first sight it appears that the 50 people lying around the tower are sleeping. But they aren’t, they are listening. On a daily basis, the camp’s dedicated presenter reads aloud two chapters using his enchanting voice, which can imitate each and every one of the characters of Lord of the Rings. The recitations is a success and Wednesday there were about 100 listeners – here among a fire engine with firefighters leaning out from their down rolled windows.

The tower is the centre of the camp and surrounded by the guys’ tents. On second thought the tower may look like a phallus symbol. But is it really a good pick-up move to wear capes down to the floor, where only the face can be seen? “Schhh”, says one of the guys. “If you are quiet you can hear that three of our guys have girls visiting at this very moment”.

All right then. Whether it’s the girls’ wet dreams of Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen that allures them to the Lord of the Rings Camp is unknown, but it’s a camp full of fairytales with the sweetest and most welcoming tall hobbits.

“One does not simply walk into Mordor” couldn’t be further from the truth in this camp. Here, the good vibrations rule and hungover festival guests ought to take a stroll to one of the recitations.

The Lords of the Rings is now to be found in a modern version at Roskilde Festival. A modern version with cheeky, Danish young men, who would like to teach girls about the trilogy.

What is Camp of the Year?
Since 2006 Roskilde Festival has elected Camp of the Year. Every day during the festival week, the committee elects a Camp of the Day.
