YELAWOLF (US)Alabama has no reputation as a hip hop mecca compared to Los Angeles or Detroit. At least not yet. Yelawolf is one of the southern state city's new ambassadors and has, despite his skin colour, been the new black for some time in the global hip hop club. A skinny country boy brought up on Lynyrd Skynyrd, but with an aggressive, vicious and virtuous rap style that places him just as much in the company of Tech N9ne as Eminem. He is signed to the latter's Shady Records and the comparisons with this pioneer are inevitable. However, make no mistake of Yelawolf. His music reeks of petrol, crunk, dope and white trash attitude, so you know it is made by a genuine Dixie. Label: Shady / Universal Links Back | ![]() Aggressive southern hip hop. |
