So I just watched the Roskilde doc. on Kanal 5, one of the camps that the camera crew follows is camp ''Desperate Housewives''.
Apparently the girls from Desperate Housewives have a so-called 'green camp' which resulted in them getting a reserved spot at the camping grounds.
What I dont understand is that these girls can call themselves 'green camp' and get a reserved spot (in the most attractive part of the camping grounds), when the only green thing they have in their camp is a few very small plants.
I know that Roskilde has a lot of focus on the environment etc.. but these girls just make it all look like a big joke. Anyone can bring a few plants................
Can anyone tell me, did camp Roskilde Open win green camp of the year? I think I was told that Roskilde Open was a green camp because their stereo ran on solar power. I think its funny they can be called 'green' when they have a huge stereo supossedly getting all its power from a 1meter x 1meter solar panel - you need way more solar panels to run the stereo they had this year..

No. You don't. That's the short answer, if you wanna know how it's done, read the "how to" on this site, or on Roskilde Open's site, or the Boominator thread on DIYaudio.com.
It's pretty simple really.

Hi,
Aside from the Camp Codex, the 2011 Green Camps also had a set of requirements they had to meet to qualify. (https://www.facebook.com/notes/green-footsteps/become-one-of-our-six-official-green-camps/10150163852931504)
To sum it up shortly, they had to arrange green activities and events, be as trash and CO2 friendly as possible, among other things.
These are some of the things not shown in Kanal 5's Roskilde documentary, since it's made with a different agenda - not a worse one, just not one focused on the green initiatives of the Green Camps. I'm sure that the girls from Camp Desperate Housewives were followed simply because they were a group of outgoing girls with a very 'Roskilde-esque' image.
That being said, the girls had daily events such as making people gather 'beautiful' trash and judging it, playing CO2 neutral games, and generally keeping their own camp really clean with a daily cleanup.
Regarding Camp Roskilde Open, they didn't win solely on having a sun powered stereo. They won for their general attitude towards the campaign, and the goal of making a statement on the possibility of making the camping area a fun yet cleaner area. They did this with daily cleanups, and events such as giving people who turned in a full trash bag for a lottery ticket (all of which were winning tickets). And this was only part of what they did in 2011.
The Green Camps did all this without any support from Roskilde Festival, only with their own money and energy throughout the festival.
Hopefully the Green Camps inspired some people to feel that cleaning up and 'living greener' at Roskilde Festival was a bit more appealing.
Hope this helps, otherwise feel free to respond with further questions.
- Kristian

Hey Chr.
To give you a more specific answer, I'll give you the details of our stereo. During the day we use a small power-saving amplifier wich uses about 0.6A max and during the evening when we want to play the loudest we use a bigger amplifier that uses about 3A max.
Our solar panel is a 85W solar panel which means that we theoreticaly should charge about 7A. During this festival we charged with an average of 3-4A which meant that we did not at all have to charge our batteri during the week.
As Kristian also pointed out our stereo wasn't the only reason we became green camp of the year. Hopefully we'll get chosen as a green camp again this year and then you will be more than welcome to visit us at our camp and partake or watch some of the green events we have during the week.
Best Regards
Tobias on behalf of Roskilde Open
