Caravan camping

If you prefer to sleep in your own camper, then we have just the area for you.

Each year Roskilde Festival arranges a special area for guests who wish to spend the night in their campers, mobile homes, etc.

No special wristband is required to get access to caravan camping. Everyone with a regular festival wristband has access, so you're welcoem to invite other festival guests on a visit. You are also welcome to share your caravan with others.

Price: DKK 365 (the price is for one vehicle and includes an unlimited number of people - who, however, must wear festival wristbands)

When you buy your festival ticket for 2012, you can buy additional services. This includes caravan camping. This means that you get two tickets – your regular festival ticket and your caravan ticket.

If you already have a ticket and have not discovered caravan camping before now, you can purchase a caravan space in a separate purchase from 1 March 2012 and onwards. Until 1 March caravan camping is only available for purchase when you buy your regular festival ticket.

You can get access to caravan camping, located east of Køgevej (see the map for location), from Saturday 30 June at 18:00. Upon arrival drive directly to the area. It is not necessary to exchange the ticket to a festival wristband first. After you have settled, please go exchange your ticket to a festival wristband.

If you:

  • arrive in a camper, a caravan, a mobile home or a camping trailer that is registered as such, you are permitted immediate access to the caravan area since your vehicle abides by the laws for official camping vehicles.
  • arrive in a van which has been fitted as a camper and is equipped with permanent fire extinguisher and permanent beds etc., you will gain access to the area.

You will not have access to the area if you arrive in a van in which nothing special has been done to meet the requirements of a camper (e.g. no permanent beds, fire extinguishers etc.) you will be denied access to the area.

It is allowed to pitch one awning to each caravan. This could also be a tent in the same size.

On arrival, your vehical needs to be approved. If your vehicle is rejected, it will be directed to the parking area, and the passengers are requested to camp at the festival’s camp site (for tents). Please note that any kind of accommodation at the parking area is prohibited.

When a vehicle is approved and granted access to the caravan area, guests must follow the service guards’ parking instructions – do not expect that you can freely choose where to park.

If you arrive with a camper or a camping trailer, you must return your car to the parking area after discharge. Your car will be marked with a sticker indicating that the vehicle has access to the area. Please note that you are not allowed to park your vehicle next to the trailer or camper.

The same rules apply for the caravan area as in any other accommodation area: it is strictly forbidden to use any kind of open fire, including candles, oil lamps or the like. However, we allow use of fixed gas installations in caravans and autocampers.

Alternative camping options
Besides getting to live in a caravan you can arrive to a pitched tent, bring your motorcycle or buy a camping gear package and avoid the troubles of bringing tent, mattress and sleeping bag. Read more about the possibilities in the other submenus.
