The New Eves

The New EvesUK

A magical ritual of primal punk rock and occult folk horror

With a mix of occult witch vibes, vital post-punk, and quirky freak folk, Brighton-based The New Eves have made their mark as one of the most interesting new bands on the British music scene.

As The Guardian enthusiastically wrote in a review of their excellent debut album The New Eve Is Rising from 2025: "Imagine if the Velvet Underground scored Midsommar ...". A very apt description of the band's distinctive sound, which combines musical experimentation, primal rock 'n' roll, folk horror, and a sense of pagan ritual, making their concerts a captivating experience.

On stage, they manage to conjure up an almost magical universe through a foggy witches’ brew  of noisy guitars, minimalist drums, and instruments such as the cello, violin, and flute. And not least through the almost medieval-sounding vocal harmonies that underpin the hypnotic and mythological character of the music.

The band themselves say that they feel like they are stepping into another dimension when they join forces in the ritual magic of the concert and what they refer to on their Bandcamp page as "big hag energy." That feeling spreads to the audience, which you can experience for yourself when this fantastic live band gives their first Danish concert this summer at the Roskilde Festival.
