MERIDIAN BROTHERS (CO)The sextet of Meridian Brothers do avantgarde pop from another dimension. The foundation is Latin and tropical rhythms from their homeland. In a bubbling witch's brew of sunshine and madness, band leader Eblis Álvarez takes us into his vision of Latin America. The crooked sounds are made out of lounge-like organs, seasick rhythms and steel brass. Latin king Tito Puente would recognise some of the tones – avant-garde pirates such as The Residents would recognise others, as would nutty composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen. A semi-bizarre blend you will discover to be surprisingly addictive. Label: Soundway / Import Links Back | ![]() Latin music for weirdos |
