Poetic moods and beautiful harmonies from bright Norwegian folk stars

The Norwegian trio Uld brings the deep traditions and intimate stories of folk music to the modern music scene with songs that exude poetry and understated energy. With an exquisite sense of both songwriting and organic arrangements, they have not only earned high praise in their home country, but have also thrilled critics and audiences abroad.

The three young musicians Une Lorentze Onarheim (vocals), Lucia Andreadatter Utnem (piano) and Dagny Braanen Lindgren (accordion) met in high school, and together they have found a musical language that has grown out of a Nordic folk and ballad tradition, but which also appeals to fans of modern chamber pop and indie folk.

Here, the intimate interplay between acoustic instruments and vocals takes centre stage, along with lyrical moods and naked melodies. Already with their debut EP, fra en anden virkelighed (2024), they earned praise from Norwegian reviewers, who aptly wrote that the trio "gives silence a melody and sorrow a sound". The poetic and quiet space of the music is enhanced by the trio's own powerful lyrics, but Uld has also adapted texts by great Norwegian poets such as Jon Fosse and Gunvor Hofmo.

With their insistence on a vulnerable expression and their beautiful harmonies, Uld creates a dense universe that brings a sense of calm and contemplation to a restless world. Experience the magic for yourself when the Norwegian trio visits Roskilde Festival this summer.
